For you pro welders. Water based welding

This reminds me of a device I read about 8 or 9 years ago in which they supposedly made a "plasma" cutter that used a cup of water. Was supposed to be able to cut anything... wood, drywall, steel, aluminum, etc. You could only buy direct from them. It was called "enviro-plaz". I looked it up a while ago out of curiosity and couldn't find it, there was some implications that it was a hoax.

Very interesting:cool:! Was the last guy using it to cut:confused:? Everything else they were welding or soldering. If you can cut with it, that would be great!

Water torches have been around for over two century's. The first experiments were done around 1800. Some jewlers do use these torches.

Whenever oil shortage or gas crisis comes up in a conversation I always wondered why someone didn't figure out a way to separate oxy/hydrogen from water to make a fuel to power our cars, trucks and homes

I would love to see this technology expand...thanx for the link Woodlandfarms..

Now come on... why do you think we just don't start cracking water and getting all this wonderful fuel?. After all this is 200 year old technology. Every year or two one of these articles comes up. There is no such a thing as a free lunch. While the hydrogen water torch can be s useful tool especially for jewlers. This technology is sure not going to solve our energy problems.

I'm pretty sure this device uses much more energy to produce the flame than it produces as heat. Those darn laws of physics; there is still no free lunch.

Yeah that is always the problem.. When I was 9 years old I was playing with small dc motors and generators. And one day the light bulb lit up and I decided hooking the shaft of the generator to the motor was a "brilliant" Idea. Soon someone will come up with another brilliant idea of putting an electrolysis water cracking generator in an automobile to produce hydrogen and oxygen and feed it into the intake of an automobile engine. I mean after all that alternator is just sitting there pumping out free electricity we can use to crack the water right? The sad thing is millions of people have bought in to this and still believe in it today. The really sad part is the state of our science education in our schools.

By the way these oxy-hydrogen torches are not ideal for welding steel as they cause hydrogen embrittlement in the steel. They are often used by jewelers to weld non ferrous metals. In not having to deal with oxy-acetylene storage bottles and safety concerns of them, this can be a good choice.
