Good morning!!!!

good morning all.
Long hard day yesterday, got my wife into her hospice room, two miles from home, so i can go there often.
Not a huge sense of relief, but some, no longer fighting, just trying to enjoy life. And we will.

We have an annual Halloween party in our front yard for the trick or treaters; couple of neighbors get together, bring out their grills, outdoor fire pits, and set them up on the little cul de sac road out front. The kids love it, the parents like it, it's fun, and I'll bundle her up and make sure she gets her normal seat.

any other special Halloween plans?

Hey Sam bet you mowers will come out one more time due to our warm weather and rain. Our grass right now looks as good as it does in the spring. Generally don't put mowers up until December but that's just me. Have a great day Sam

Drew that sounds like fun, the last 27 years where we have lived just don't have trick or treaters. We are to far out I guess but you all have fun for us ok !

yeah if the weather cooperates it really is fun. I run a heavy electrical cord out there, and we have tables with food warmers on them. I tend to find a spot in hopefully just the right spot by the fire. I also spend some time on kiddie guard; only once did a little girl in some frilly outfit go straight to the fire like a moth to a flame. I got there two steps before the mother, and all was well. Though my rear end did get a tad warm...

there's nothing like a fire, a hearth, to bring folks around. I love it, throw on another log.

No snow here in Denver this morning.
I heard it will be 50 later. I will be in meetings anyway...

Have a great day all!

Poured my last cup of coffee for the morning. 38° with clouds this morning. Heading to 49° with some sun later this morning and back to clouds in the afternoon. Not much going on today. Tractor needs a new battery after 13 years. Hope a new one last as long. Off to Kubota dealer for a new one.
Good Morning All.

It was 17* at 7am when I got up, 18* now. Supposed to be a sunny day with light winds, that would be a big improvement over the last three.

I had the year's first small, slow fire in the masonry stove yesterday. Just brought the stone up to about room temperature and cooked any summer humidity out of it.

Then I tried the propane boiler and discovered it needs work. I think it needs a new exhaust fan and maybe something else. Funny because I just noted in the wood burning thread that it needed no service for seven years.

Go Red Sox!

Have a good day!

41 here now heading to 48. Got the lawn mowers all washed down last night and got the mower off the Massey. Later this week, planning on greasing the mower and sharpening the blades. Just 1 less thing I'll have to do in the spring.

Good Morning! 69˚ heading to mid 80's, may rain.
Finished my road project now I start working on the banks of the spring pond. A few pics of the road below. I had half of it finished when we had the 1.5" downpour Sunday morning and the 10% clay and 90% sand road held up good. We were able to drive on it right after the rain with no problems. The last picture in my sand/clay pit. I moved about 200 FELs of sand/clay.

A frosty 17 degrees right now...high of 46 predicted.
Supposed to warm up over the course of the week...we'll see if that happens.

I mentioned yesterday I hooked up a snow plow to my Gator...here's a couple pictures.

Roy, that looks pretty cool. I won't wish a bunch of snow on you, but from past pictures, I'm sure it's coming soon. I think I'd be tempted to put some clear poly stretched between the roll cage supports as a windshield. I hate slushy big snowflakes hitting me in the face.

It's a vey warm morning here (67 F) as the southerly breezes are being pulled up off the Gulf due to the low pressure cool front approaching. We are predicted to have the first rains tonight. My ponds and I are waiting with excitement.:)

Drew, I hope your and Nadene's cul-de-sac Halloween party is all treats and no tricks.

I was intending to get an aftermarket windshield, but that plan was squelched by Vermont Castings downsizing.
Financially, we're doing OK...not great, but OK. But the windshield will have to wait.

Roy that is why they make snowmobile suits! also a temp piece of plexiglass would be helpful too. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of you plowing snow say around the end of January.
By then it might be time to look for a old plow truck? Problem with our snow storms is they come but there never seems to be warm enough days for them to melt down until late March.

I don't have enough drive to justify a plow truck and I'm not going to put a plow on my F-150. I've been plowing snow with an open station tractor for years....including last winter season when we were in East Randolph. I dress for it and don't normally plow during a snow....not if it's blowing hard, anyway.

I'll try to get pictures when I do plow with the Gator, but getting my wife out in cold snowy weather is virtually impossible. And she was raised here in VT

How far was each trip from the pit to the dump spot?

I could take some of those Texas temps here this morning. It 26 and looking to reach 42 probably late afternoon. Guess I just have to give up on warm temps and admit winter is on its way.

Don, your road isn't truly tested until Harvey comes up and drives up and down it a few times with Lucy and Iris.
