Nothing wrong with that bear that a 180 grain core-loct out of a 30-06 won't cure.

Easy to say until the bear takes the gun away from you and beats you senseless with it.
I believe it was T.R. that said that "A man with a 30-06 doesn't need to walk away from anything"

I live on the Western Md./Wv border in the mountains in the middle of nowhere and I have to deal with these darn bears all the time. The best deterrent I have found is this. Get a regular balloon, fill it with an amonia water mixture and wipe peanut butter all over it. hang it up in a branch where you keep seeing the bear and hang it high enough that the bear has to stand up and get the ballon. It will break the balloon and get a faceful of amonia........ It won't be back..

I have treid this option also. Trust me, you DO NOT want to do this. You wallet will become very light in a hurry. About 10 years ago I shot a bear that continually chased my horse. Long story short , the DNR wanted to lock me up in the worst way but couldn't. I was simply protecting my property. It wasn't worth the harrassment from the authorities however...

That's a real sneaky trick.

You can also hang tin foil off the e-fence and put a piece of bacon on it. When the bear eats it Zap in the mouth.
I lost bee hives when my fence was shorted out by some weeds. The bear went right through it and smashed 3 hives on me. I finally got another swarm so I have bees again.

Well you could buy a license and shoot it in season.

they say 5000 volts minimum on your fence. i had the same problem as forge did with honeybees being raided by a bear. you gotta think that a bear's threshold for pain must be something else to be able to withstand the number of bee stings a bear would get from raiding a hive.
