I caught a glimpse of one, several years ago. It reminded me of the Unicorn Legend.
A college professor shot one in my area several years ago. Its a no-no in Illinois to shoot an albino deer. He checked it in and they took it away and wrote him a ticket. The state had it stuffed and displayed it in different places. I saw it and it was a pretty pure albino. Its kind of funny, the deer couldn't have been 6 months old, even if it wasn't an albino, it wasn't worth shooting.
Dan, That might have been co-incidences strung together - but it might not!!
Just checked out your last years thread, very nice photos. There has frequently been an albino doe on Rannoch Moor in northern Scotland over a few centuries of time. My wife and I saw the then current one on our honeymoon in 1971. Only time I have ever seen one. I do not know if there is one at present.
I bet the meat would be tough and stringy.
An honest mistake, blood flowing from brain to stomach. :laughing:I thought somebody might have spotted my stupid mistake by now. The female of Red deer (as in my post above) is called a hind and not a doe. I was just watching my does (goats) before lunch and realised that I had posted doe instead of hind last night. Apologies for stupidity, my excuse being that my wife announced dinner was ready just as I began posting.
