Bought a used M7040, and changing all the fluids/filters etc in it.

The manual sales 11 gallon on how much hydraulic fluid it will hold.

11 gallon did not make it show in the dipstick. Kept adding a gallon, finally at about 14 gallon, fluid showed on the dipstick.

What have you other owners experienced? Is the manual just flat wrong?

Don't have a good measure, but had 3, 5 gallon buckets....full enough that I was thinking it was more than 11 gallon. In fact now thinking about it, I poured the old oil back into the buckets I bought the oil in, and fill two (10 gallon) and got an open 5 gallon bucket with 3-4 gallon in it.

So the manual has to be wrong....but given the time this tractor has been around, why is that?

It wouldn't be the first time a manual was wrong. I don't understand it either, but it happens.

The capacity is supposed to be 14.8 gallons. I just pour (pump) in three 5-gallon buckets.
