Buying Advice Kubota or Kioti or Mahindra or LS or McCormick????

Few things in life are. And your Dealer took care of it?

Yup, no complaints with the dealer. Besides those issues, and some rough cold starts ... The tractor was great.

I'm not trying to start any fights. I think very highly of Kioti. I'm just saying that based on my specific ownership of the two brands (Kioti & LS) the LS has been a better tractor. I've not had a single leak, problem, or cold start ... And I've put it thru the paces, to be sure. That's MY experience only.

How many hours have you put on your Kioti and how many hours have you put on this one. This is your third machine since you bought your first one last year, yes?

Put about 200 hrs on the Kioti, owned it for approx 1 year. Sold it and bought the LS R4041 shuttle. Had it for 3 months and about 50 hrs ... decided I hated Shuttle Shift. Traded it back in for my current R4047 HST. I've had it for about 5-6 months, and now have around 130 hrs on it.

I've worked all 3 tractors hard; I would say that I've worked this R4047 the hardest of the 3.

And keep in mind ... All the issues I had with the Kioti happened early on. 17.5 hrs for that steering column thing ... And I think around 100 hrs for the other one.

It seems a big item LS is missing is a 4 wheel drive dash light. You could damage your trans if you don't know.

LOL ... C'mon now Murph, that's a stretch. No reason to grasp for straws just to try to snub LS.

It's pretty obvious when your tractor is in 4wd. And if you can't "feel" it, you can glance at the floor and quickly see what position the lever is in.

No Straws for someone new. Not everyone has the experience you do. No real dig on LS at all. You see its not Perfect! LOls

Well you can't really say it's a "big item" that is missing, to not have a 4x4 indicator light on the dash ... And it definitely doesn't detract from proper functionality of the tractor.

And granted, not everyone has had the same experience as me. However, one can quickly peruse both of the (Kioti & LS ... well all forums actually) forums and see the different list of problems present with the tractors. If you do that, you'll find that there are very few members who have problems with their LS tractors.

Look, I'm not trying to talk the OP into buying an LS (i don't care what he buys) I'm just saying that from MY personal experience, LS has been a better tractor than my Kioti was.

Sorry, I can only agree with the others. We own three SCUTS and love them for what they are, but wouldn't buy one if it was going to be my only or primary tractor. When looking at brands, I tend to focus on model as I like some Kubota models and not others, same goes for Kioti and others. I can't honestly say one brand is better than the other or even one model over another without knowing the model.

My brother and I have bought several used tractors over the years and just bought what had what we needed, so we wound up with several different colors. My last new tractors were Kubota and his was Kioti, if I had to buy new again, I would not automatically go orange, but would have to look at them all again.

I'd be more concerned with those tractors that don't come with a horn :D

For any newbies out there, I'm making a playful jab at the Kubota fans, but I honestly have a constructive reason for doing so?it's not really a knock on Kubota, at all (excellent machines).

Here's what I was getting at: My next door neighbor is an awesome guy, who helps me do so much stuff, I can't even describe it all. He is also, very nearly deaf due to a childhood illness. He's got hearing aids that help, but I know he doesn't like wearing them, and frequently goes without. I know enough to look at him, and speak up when we're talking (he reads lips pretty well). We frequently use my LS to move stuff, lift things, etc, but if I need to catch his attention it's usually too loud, or he's too far away, for me to try yelling over the engine noise. With the horn on the LS I can give it a quick beep, and he'll hear it. I never, ever, would have thought about that prior to getting the machine, but I'm really glad it has the horn.

I mentioned this, because it's a good example of how one feature might mean a lot to me, and nearly nothing to someone else. I've always sort of laughed at 4WD dashboard lights?ey, I know it's in 4WD, I'm the one that put it in 4WD, and I do a mental checklist every time I start, and shut down a tractor (probably from my aviation experience) that includes checking the 4WD status. For other folks, it might be something important to them?hard to say, but it's not a bad thing to point out, or at least know to ask about when you're shopping for a new machine.

Not trying to start anything either, but there is barely any feeling difference when my tractor is in 2 or 4 wheel drive. The dash light is a good reminder when I hit the hard pavement.
