wont start

I have a JD 4410 that has intermittent no start issues I think its in the safety switch for the gear selector because if you can get it into just the right spot it will engage the starter.
Any ideas on what to look for?

My JD750 has been like that for years. I look at it as an anti-theft device. If you don't pull up on the PTO lever and joggle the shifter, it ain't gonna start.

Not enough of a pain for me to take the time/spend the money to fix it.

now its to the point I cant get it to roll over at all

My Simplicity garden tractor had the same problem. I also thought it was a safety switch problem, turned out it was the solenoid on the starter that had gone bad. For a short period of time if I would tap on the solenoid with a hammer, it would start.

Check for loose or sloppy links down to neutral start switch,also connections/ wires ex......

You've already figured it out yourself. Its the safety switch for the gear selector. Either it's out of adjustment or faulty. Go under there and see.
