Oil

Synthetic oils do not cause leaks, they have seal swellers. If you have maintained your tractor with regular changes, you will be fine. If you have neglected it, the synthetics ability clean the sludge out may find a leak, but will not cause it.

Please tell me what formulation is "seal sweller"? Most Nitrile, Buna-N, seal material is impervious to oils and additives.

Go do sone reading on places like BITOG. When synthetics first hut the market, they gad a rep for 'causing leaks'.

I'm very familiar with B.I.T.O.G., a tier lll "back shelf" oil enthusiasts forum. but I couldn't find any information there to back up your "seal sweller" claim. I also did a cursory glance at SAE International (yes, I'm a past member) and found a white paper, Lubricant Formulation Effects on Oil Seal Degradation , that pretty much explains why seals fail. You can read it if you want - $25.00. Tell me what you think. Also, tell me more about "seal swellers". I would deem your posts even more credible if you quoted or referenced something from The Official STLE Web Site | Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers or SciTech Connect: .
Let's try to keep snake oil stories and old wives tales to a minimum - if at all.

Show me some free data backing your claims up.

I really don't have much time for sales people. Especially those that just use their Google skills.
Mobil? Really?
All your information is free, handed to you on a platter. What are your credentials that let you speak with authority on lubrication? Never mind, I'm not going to be trolled.
I digress.

I wonder what Carl Bert thinks . That will surely start another war . Why do you people always get into a pissing match ? Oil is oil , keep some in it .

I guess I shouldn't have brought this topic up. Just wondering about the conventional versus synthetic oil. I guess I could change back to a conventional diesel oil and see what happens.

Nothing (bad) will happen. I had four Chinese tractors, and never saw a need to put synthetic anything into any one of them.
