I finally found an IH #37 10' disc at a reasonable price and within driving distance. The only downfall of buying one for this price is I will need to replace at least 8 discs, new hydraulic cylinder, and who knows what else.

So here's why I'm posting this; I need advice on how to haul this disc home. It's 90 miles from home and I have never transported anything this wide before. My biggest/widest haul was an Allis Chalmers C just a few weeks ago. How wide of a trailer will I need and will I be able to just set the tires on the flatbed trailer with the discs hanging out on both the left and right side? Or should I just hire someone to transport this disc for me? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I also bought this model disc. It was a 10' too. I used my 18' trailer. I took it apart to the point I could swing the rear gangs back and the front gangs forward so it was narrower than 8' to transport. I don't recall exactly what had to come apart, I think it was at the outer edges where you set the gang angles. HARDEST part was loading it. They only had a skid steer and it could not quite pick it up. We had two guys hanging off the back of the skid steer and then had to back the trailer under the lifted, teetering, disc. I used my JD 2030 to unload it with no problems. It was taken apart near dark and only lost one hairpin clip (3 guys taking it apart)
Also picked up a Bush Hog 9' rear blade. It was about a 180 mile trip.
Hope this helps. It can be done.

Forgot to say we disconnected the hydraulic cylinder and swung the transport wheels over and toward the tongue of the disc.

Wow! That's a very nice #37. What a great find! Was it restored at some point or is it all original?

You made it seem like it was a breeze transporting that disc. After looking through your pics, it certainly does look doable though. I just hope that I'll be able to unbolt everything that needs to be since the disc's been sitting the field for a while. Thanks for replying and sharing your photos.

If it's a deckover, you could load it, and put big red flag's on each corner. I've done it more then several times. After calling the Highway Partol here several times, and getting the same answer, I just do it without calling when needed. If it was a large piece of equipment, it would probabaly require an overwidth permit. OHP told me with what I was moving (rfarm machinery, and a small outbuilding), flag it and go...

I would advise to call your's, and see what they say.

Someone with a roll back would be my second choice. Guessing $3.00+ per loaded mile to haul.

I hauled a 12 ft'er on a trailer with the fenders between the gangs once, when it left we loaded it on a deckover crossways and torched the bolts for the hitch off.

I loaded my 10' IH disc sideways on a 24' gooseneck by unbolting and removing the tongue. Easily done.

Thanks. I am unsure of it's history. It came from my father in law's estate. He bought it used. I had to buy it for appraisal or take my chances at the auction. It was stored inside while he owned it. I paid appraisal and a neighbor move it to his place until I could pick it up. The neighbor did spray penetrating oil on the bolts every chance he got, knowing I had to make it narrower to move. Moved from Ohio to Michigan.

I just aired the tires up, pinned it up and dropped a pin in my receiver hitch, then drove 50 miles home(slowly). Mine is a 12" IH 307
