How would you transport a 10' disc home?

/ How would you transport a 10' disc home? #11
I finally found an IH #37 10' disc at a reasonable price and within driving distance. The only downfall of buying one for this price is I will need to replace at least 8 discs, new hydraulic cylinder, and who knows what else.

So here's why I'm posting this; I need advice on how to haul this disc home. It's 90 miles from home and I have never transported anything this wide before. My biggest/widest haul was an Allis Chalmers C just a few weeks ago. How wide of a trailer will I need and will I be able to just set the tires on the flatbed trailer with the discs hanging out on both the left and right side? Or should I just hire someone to transport this disc for me? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I bought a 13-ft Minneapolis Moline KS-1300 disc from my tractor dealer a few years ago. He delivered it using his big gooseneck trailer. He removed the hitch and loaded the disc sideways onto the trailer. He brought his forklift on another trailer. Use that and my Mahindra 5525 with bucket forks to unload that thing.

He only had to go about 25 miles. Paid $600 including delivery.

Good luck

Vote #3 for sideways with the tongue off of it. Brought home a 16' disc and a 14' cultipacker that way on the same trailer. Used the 450B to unload the disc though! I might suggest some 2x8's under the discs so you dont decorate your trailer deck with gouge marks.

90 miles at 15 mph should only take about 6 hours, just take it behind the tractor with SMV!

I sold a 10 foot disc and I delivered it. To keep it from fish tailing I hooked a chain on the right side of the disc and the other end around the hitch on the truck. After hooking up the disc I backed enough to put the disc off center. When I straighten up the chain kept the disc in a bind so it pull straight no fish tailing at all. I pulled it around 35 mph on back roads with no problems. I had 3 tight left hand turns which I unhooked the chain right hand turns were no trouble. Also I took a high boy jack to raise the disc to its most high point then chained it there.

Towed my 12ft Kewanee 50 miles @30-35mph behind my pickup. Not the worst experience ever.

10 ft is not that bad to haul. I've hauled equipment for years. Just center the disc on the trailer with the hitch facing back. Chain it down and head home. A goose neck trailer is ideal but we haul them on bumper hitch too. If the trailer has rails just set it down on the rails. The cutters will straddle the rails. A couple chains and your on your way
