Buying Advice Kubota or Kioti or Mahindra or LS or McCormick????

i was looking at the 50ish HP compacts and utilities. all the compacts were smaller than the compact i currently had (except for the mahindra 5035 and the JD 4720), so i moved up to utility szied, for the LS i looked at the 5020 with a LL5101 it also didn't make the final list.

You selected the best tractor for your needs and preferences which is what it is all about. Good job, your Deere is a very nice tractor.

I think you've made it perfectly clear that you're not fond of LS, but the 5020 is also less powerful, and quite a bit lighter (1,000lbs) than the tractor you did buy….again, not really a direct comparison. Not that any of this helps the OP...

don't put words in my mouth. LS makes a nice tractor that has a great price point however, it would not work for ME. the 5020 is the LS That met my criteria i didn't look at the 5030.

My Massey has Cat 1/2 links, and can lift 3,100lbs at the ball ends, so I could use Cat 2 implements, but I'm not sure it qualifies as a Utility sized machine (4,100lbs).

lots of the masseys do. there are utility tractors out there that weight less than compacts, but not many and i don't know where you would draw the line of comact vs utility

I was checking to see if the op posted back with an update on his search...I see this thread went off topic! LOL........

derailed big time

yes it is great i am very happy with it. i hope the OP finds the tractor he wants, and the best way is to figure out what he wants in his tractor/what he wants the tractor to do, compare tractors that meet his specs on paper from different brands on paper and then go physically try them out.

Sheesh, talk about all over the map, and a thread getting derailed.

Your first post said you were comparing stripped down utility tractors, and that you didn't see the "huge" price difference that I mentioned in my post.....okay, you're talking Utility tractors, but this thread is about CUTs...or it was. I saw a big price difference, others have as well, and you didn't....okay, that's great.

All I said in reply that was those sorts of things are often brand/model specific, and since this thread is actually about CUTs, I mentioned the CUT price differences that I was quoted, and similar numbers others have reported. Then you brought up that you also looked at 50hp CUTs...why you would first talk about Utility prices when the OP is asking about CUTs, is anybody's guess, but it was a tangent that didn't really apply to the discussion.

You made three comments about the two LS models being instantly crossed off your list, didn't make the final list, etc...nothing wrong with that, but it's negative. That's why I said you made it clear you weren't fond of the LS tractors. You certainly didn't say anything positive, and didn't single out any other brands. Saying you aren't fond of something you singled out, and posted nothing but negatives about, isn't really putting words in your mouth.

i am sorry if i offended anyone.

Gmanbart i will try and explain my thinking to you in a PM so as to not derail this any further.

OP if you're still out there - figure out what you want from a tractor, and then find tractors that match those specs and demo them, only you can really know what will work for you.

I don't think you were offensive in any way. You detailed your selection process and thoughts and bought a tractor that you like. It doesn't get any better than that.

I agree, Iseki has been around for some time, I had no issues buying my 1660 a couple of months ago.

The new 1700s will be using a Mitsubishi engine, Iseki didn't want to pursue emissions compliance I'm told by my dealer. Iseki will still be assembling the 1700, Iseki drive train with Mitsubishi emission compliant diesels.

That's interesting because LS went from Mitsubishi engines in their Tier 3 tractors to Shibaura engines in their Tier 4 ones, supposedly because Mitsubishi wanted too much $$ for the new Tier 4 engines.

I contacted my local NH dealer today. He claims that the new LS Boomers will use a tier4 Mitsubishi. I also find it very odd that LS would use the Shibaura but NH would stay with Mitsubishi.

I will say tho, the dealer didn't seem all that knowledgeable. It's possible that he is just misinformed. Just doesn't make sense ...

Side note. Dealer quoted me a new tier 3 Boomer 50 HST, 250tl loader w/quick attach, R4, 1 set of remotes ... $26,165 before tax. My identical LS was $21,760 pre tax. Included 2 remotes, draft control, better loader, etc.

This is just in response to the earlier sidetrack about pricing differences.

Interesting thing tho, Chrysler employees get a discount. He said "invoice price" but wouldn't say what that was.

I don't know much about Shibaura engines, are they of equal stature to Mitsubishi?

shibaura is used in lots of skid steers and the NH workmaster series and i'm sure in other applications as well
