JD 1070
Looking into buying a subcompact JD tractor. Been looking on Craigslist but not finding what I want. Dealers have something closer to what I want but unsure what a fair price is with so many variables. How much do dealers normally come down off their asking price? If they have a price of $14,950 on a unit, would they come down to $14,000? What's been your experience? I'd like to know before I go looking.

We just built a house in a rural area. We have an LA140 with a 48" deck for mowing and a JD 1070 with a loader. Looking to get something like a 2520 with a mowing deck and a 54" snow blower. I really don't need a loader as I have the 1070 for that. Not sure I'd have any luck asking the dealer to trade a loader for a snow blower as it seems so many subcompacts have a loader but few come with a blower.

I have found that if its a cash deal using your asking price example I suspect a dealer would drop to 14K. You might want a larger blower for a JD2520 though. 54" would be small.

From what I found on the Deere website, the 54" is the biggest they make for the 2520/2720. I did find a used blower in CL. Guy had a 59" unit on a 2520 but he said it came off of a different series. Not sure if had to be modified to work or not. I'd like the 59" unit as the 2520/2720 would handle it easily.

I am guessing the 2520 you mention is a JD. That's a good size tractor. I have a 26HP Mahindra that I originally bought with a 64" 3Pt blower. You want the blower to be wider than your track width. If it's a front mount you might be limited to what the dealer sells for it.

I've thought about getting a PTO/3-point snow blower as it would be cheaper overall. However, I'm having back surgery and I'm thinking it would be tough trying to look over my shoulder to blow snow after surgery. If I get the front mount on a HST my wife can handle the duties. The other issue is my JD 1070 has no rear hydraulics and many of the rear blowers have hydraulics on them.

My dream machine is a 2720 with turf tires, 72" 7-Iron deck and a 59" snow blower (and lots of lights for blowing snow at night). It's nice to dream.

Best of luck on your surgery and a fast recovery. Front mount is the best way to go for you and / or wife.
This year most of my plowing will be done with a recently purchased used 1T 4x4 dump truck w/ a 9' western plow. The tractor will be used later in the season when the banks have to be moved back when I run out of room for snow. Wish I could get my wife out on the tractor or in the plow truck but she's never driven a truck or tractor.

If it were me living in Wisconsin I would sell the 1070 or trade it in and get a 3520 cab with mmm, turfs, fel and front blower. They are only going to go up in price and expect the 0% financing to go away too. If that is too big for your lawn then go for the 2032R rigged out the way you want. I don't recommend you buy less than you really wan't as trading up is much more expensive than buying right the first time.
