I agree, that v6 would be my choice. And the "U.S. tuned" makes me wonder what will suffer on the little diesel by the time it comes out. Will the power drop to meet EPA standards here?

That sounds like a well matched combination: a 3500 pound (1600kg) truck with a 180hp diesel... I drive a 1450kg saloon with a 140hp diesel and though illegal, i regularly tow 5500 pounds. I would like a slightly higher 6th speed when driving empty on the freeway to save fuel by making use of the torque, and the rest of the gears a bit shorter when towing, to take off easier in 1st, and to be able to tow in 5th all the time. Now i must keep it above 90kmh in 5th to stay above max torque... max torque is at 1900rpm, 1500rpm is just too low to haul 2.5 ton on sloping terrain.

I 100 percent agree, It looks like my next truck will be a Toyota, Hopefully with a diesel.

A six-speed automatic will power all three engines, for now. While no manual transmission was mentioned, engineers hinted that one might ultimately end up in the Colorado at some point. – Telling one publication to “stay turned.”

Still don't see the advantage other than that Bubba can tell Billy Joe that he "drives a diesel". Diesel option is how much more $$$. Diesel costs how much more at the pump? Diesel service costs on a Tier IV engine costs how much during the LIFE of the vehicle?

This is 2013 and we are comparing Tier IV EPA diesels with DI gassers. It isn't the 1980's when diesel was cheap, gutless gas engines had carbs or throttle bodies and the mighty Cummins 6BT/ISB ruled.

I'm 6'4", 245 lbs and can't stand being in any of those "little" trucks. Sat in a Tacoma at the dealership while my Tundra was being worked on; immediate claustrophobia
