I just missed a 10 point that had a nice kicker coming off the side with my bow. Would have easily been my biggest to date. What a disappointing feeling! I think if I didn't have to go back to work at 3 I'd start drinking lol

When that happens it sucks. I always remind myself to look at the bright side.....I'm not still in the woods trying to find that blood trail that tapered off to a pin head drop every 20 yards. I don't owe a taxidermist 600$. I won't be up late wrapping meat and making sausage. I don't have to buy a bunch of ice and clean the cooler.
And the best part is you missed him clean, which means he is still out there and you may see him again...That's a lot better than a really bad hit that will leave him to slowly die and never get used.

That was the biggest relief knowing that it was a clean miss. If I would have wounded him it woulda made me sick. The other thing I keep telling myself was that he didn't seem overly scared when he ran away. He never snorted and just seemed to trot off like he wasn't sure what had happened. Hopefully he'll come back on Saturday when rifle starts, because I don't miss with my .270. Knock on wood!

I shot another hog last night. My game camera has been showing them coming in around midnight, but with the storm and cold front coming, I thought maybe they would be out before dark. It was 4:30 when six of them came out to the feeder, but raining pretty hard, which made it darker out and harder to see them through the scope.

He's about 50 to 60 pounds. Perfect eating size!!!

Yes, kudos to your son. I can still remember my first deer... but have long forgotten my first video game. (Or if I ever even played with them. :D )

Scooter, Great deer, I bet he is on the moon right now:thumbsup: I commend you for taking him as well. I think whether you got one or not, it was a great day out with the son, the hunt was a great " bonding experience" an the harvest the "cherry on top".

Eddie, have you tried night hunting ?? I know hogs learn fast, but the guys on the hunting forums do real well night hunting them. According to the guys that have hog problems, the hogs do push the deer out to a degree.
