"when the lawn gets soft in the fall,"
LOL, here on the coast of Maine. the turf is softer in the spring

Here too.
That was meant to imply leave the turfs on till the ground firms up after spring..

In that tube vid, He does not rotate the scalp wheels 90ー which makes it easier to scoot the deck out from under

I don't find it necessary. I can have the deck out from underneath the tractor in the time it would take to turn one wheel. YMMV.

I think your arbitrary time limit is rushing your decision. I just rented a BX25D today to make sure it will fill my needs, and I think it will. But it sounds to me like you are expecting a lot more from your tractor than I will. I think you will outgrow a subcompact very soon.

If you can, take more time. Research more alternatives. Good luck!

Oh, I was quoted 19,399 just for the tractor. Out the door a little over 25 set up how I want it.

When you say some do you mean John Deere:D

I have the 54" regular deck. I think the 60" deck would be better because it would stick out past the tractor more.

Here is I a picture of my grass after it was mowed with the BX. My grass is not the best and this was my last mowing for the year.

I am right over on Islesboro. Bought my BX25 a year ago in Union for 11 acres of similar work.
The ag tires do mark the lawn soil when it is wet, but not intolerably so, unless you are looking for a pristine lawn. then you could get turf tires and buy chains for rouger and snow. Listen to the dealer recommendations.
There are faster better mowers for that specialty area of lawn/garden work, but I think it is an excellent mower, just not a specialized one.
I have never been disappointed with the power of the machine except when lifting more than 600# with the loader. The backhoe is exceptional!
I have a woods tiller, forks for the loader, a rake as well. For plowing, I use my one ton truck, but the loader does a lot of cleanup too.

I bought the ballast box with intent of using as a tool carrier but have yet to use it. I usually have the backhoe mounted when in the woods.

The only complaint is the seat. Too many safety controls make it hard to operate.

Thanks so much. We like UFE a lot, and that means a lot to us in considering this purchase. I think we'll go with the box blade instead of the ballast box. I already have tasks for it lined up. ;-)

I went with the 54" because of more uneven lawns and a few narrow spots between trees and landscape items. The 60" is better for flat spots and golf course type lawns, IMO

Good advice. Thanks. Anyone use the bagger?

The time frame is really not arbitrary with winter coming on, concerns about our current machine without the TLC it deserves and an approved loan/time sensitive promo in the offing. Nonetheless, your advice is taken to heart, and I appreciate it. We don't want to rush into something. We've been round and round on the sub compact question, and, in reality, this CASE has taken good care of us, but boy the loader would make a difference. :) I have experience with larger tractors, and I just think that anything above a sub-compact will be too big for our current situation. We've looked at other subcompacts, but two factors have consistently pushed us in the direction of Kubota: 1) we already rent equipment from the local dealer and have a relationship we trust there, 2) the reputation/price point of orange. :)
