How do you set the height of a flail mower

Hello all,

anyone who knows me knows that I am slightly obsessed with one day owning a flail mower. Today's question is about how to adjust the height. I know there is an adjustable rear roller, but what holds up the front part? Is it just the 3pt hitch? If so, doesn't that make for irregularity when dropping the mower? Does it rest skid shoes on the sides of the mower? Just about every Flail mower seems to have skid shoes on the sides of the housing. Is there something I am missing altogether?

I would love to some day add one of these to my lineup for hedgerow work and for light bushhogging.

Can a flail mower be used as a finish mower? And if not, why not?

I find it easiest to have the rear roller on the ground by lowering the 3pt, and then adjust the cutting height with the hydraulic top line.
