At times, when I turn the key on my B21, the stop solenoid does not open. It seems to happen more in cold weather. Sometimes if I tap on the top of the dash, it clicks open. Any thoughts?

Relay switch, loose wire, or key switch.

Do you think the control module could cause this problem?

anything is possible. But the most likely culprit in my opinion are the relay power contacts are corroded or burned and your vibration is making them contact enough to get the solenonoid to operate.

I checked all the wire and terminal and they all seemed tight. It always happens when it is cold. I don't know what the control module does, but most of the time that is the area where I tap and it completes the circuit. It is a very costly piece and I hate to buy it and it turn out to be a safety not working properly. Wish I had a wiring diagram!

Disconnect the solenoid wore at the solenoid. Cycle the solenoid with a clip lead / wire connected to 12V source (battery). If the solenoid works reliably the problem is most likely else where. You could do the Sam by disconnecting the wire from the control point and cycling it. I believe with 12v off solenoid should fail closed but I'm not positive. You could also check the voltage at the connection at the solenoid with a volt meter when the solenoid appears to be "stuck". Is it the solenoid that is sticking or the valve it operates? Disconnect the solenoid from the valve and see if it cycles reliably.

Just some thoughts. Good luck. I think the solenoid is about 150. Just changed one that failed on Kubota Zero turn mower. Key off diesel kept running. Tied a pull string to the fuel valve for a while until the new solenoid came in.

Stop solenoid only clicks on during the actual shutdown sequence when the key is turned off or one of the safety switches breaks contact and fires off the keystop timing relay

Sure your not hearing the glow plug relay.

Normally, there is no voltage on the solenoid until the key is turned to the first stop. When the "click" is absent, there is no voltage on the solenoid, although the glow plug light is on as normal, if the key is turned to the next position.

Check the "fuse" that supplies the cutt-off.
Sometimes the contacts get corroded, solved my problem.
