it really is a little spooky to come on TBN after shopping on Amazon and see ads for exactly what I was looking at flashing by above on TBN. It's kind of like they are following you around, like paparazzi advertisers, and actually, they are following us...

Isn't the answer to have an alternative ad that does not need to "pop up" and therefore not run afoul of any nanny software?
I would certainly look at a separate advertisers page, it doesn't have to flash in my eyes every time I log on.

One night I Goggled the calories in a chicken sandwich. The next time I was on Google Maps, it was trying to direct me to the closest chicken sandwich shop. Big Brother is out there, and it isn't {just} Uncle Sugar.

PS: MotorSeven, I saw the add ever time, and I even clicked on your website. While it was a good looking site, I'm not shopping for land in TN. Folks who are, will Google it. Maybe you should talk to them about placing your website higher on their search list. Not sure what the cost would be compared to TBN, but with Google, you know that is what people use today. Most folks on TBN are just passing the time, or they are looking for an answer to a tractor problem.

I also run ABP. I'm on a slow Internet connection and the ads are taking way too long to load. Arborist site has got to be the worst, though.

now this is interesting. At the top right of the banner ad was a little blue triangle thingy, and I clicked on it.
An industry group for opt outs came up, with an easy opt out procedure that scans your pc and tells you what companies have latched on to you. 93 were on my pc. Yikes.
and when I switched back to TBN, the banner ad was still at the top and right, but no flashies, and I'm seeing JD and Kubota ads, just like I want to. Hmmmm.

Opt Out Complete

Your opt out requests for 93 participating companies were successfully completed for this browser.

Opt out requests were not completed for 1 participating companies.

This may be a temporary technical issue. You can try your opt out requests again now or later, or click "Learn More" for additional help.

To see the companies for which opt outs weren't completed, click "Continue" and visit the "All Participating Companies" tab.

If opt out requests are incomplete for a substantial number of companies, this may indicate that your current browser or other software settings are affecting your requests. All incomplete opt out requests are automatically reported.

I block all adds. It is unwanted material. If I want to search for something, I will do so. No adds in my face, never..

Do you not hate junk mail, same analogy.

yup, but at least with the junk mail you can throw it into recycling...probably an average of five to ten a day.
Maybe the paper will come back in a Bible or an imitation log and actually be worth something.

J.J. -
I hate junk mail also. That's why my garbage can is down at the end of my mile long driveway - right near the mail box. And yes, a couple times I've thrown important mail in the garbage can by accident. Makes me feel like a read dope - digging thru the stuff in my garbage can as cars whiz by down the county road. I also hate banner ads & flashing/blinking ads. Apparently I have activated some sort of ad block in my software because I very seldom see any ads on any web site.

I have long complained about the excessive ads here and that is the main reason I so rarely visit TBN any longer. I am SICK AND TIRED of the constant crap ads that pop up everywhere. Do the morons who create them realize that 99.9% of the people who are forced to view unwanted ads will go out of their way NOT to do business with the advertiser???
