I have searched previous treads but I haven't found my answer...Does anyone know of a coolant drain plug on the engine block of a 2007 L3400HST?

I could not find one on the L2800, so I disconnected the lower radiator hose from the pump. It still leaves quite a bit of water in the system. Flush through the upper radiator hose and the bypass hose till clear. Then flush with a couple of gallons of distilled water. Add half the cooling system capacity worth of straight antifreeze, then top with distilled water to the full mark on the recovery bottle. If I remember correctly mine the antifreeze filled the system up to the top of the recovery bottle, so I did not end up adding additional water.

I also unhooked the upper and lower radiator hoses to make flushing the system easier.

My coolant drain & plug are on the bottom of the radiator - nothing on the engine. I put a garden hose into the radiator fill port at the top and let it run for at least 1/2 hour after draining all the antifreeze. This sure seems to flush everything out of the system.
I guess if you want to get a better flush than that - drain all the antifreeze, flush like I do, refill with clean water, run the tractor 15-20 minuets, keep doing this until there is no color in the water coming out of the radiator drain plug. You could also use a coolant system flush chemical - I don't because it has to be some type of fairly harsh chemical and thats the last thing I want in the tractors cooling system. If its difficult to flush out the antifreeze - it will be just as difficult to flush out coolant system flush chemical.

You could always knock a freeze plug out. If you can't find a drain on the block.

I appreciate the replies. In the end, I drained from the rad plug and flushed out the remainder as best I could with fresh water... I can't say that the old stuff looked bad. I filled the rad with Rotella ELC undiluted as this stuff seems to match the specs indicated in the manual. After I run the machine for a bit, I will check the mixture and top up the overflow as required.

This Rotella stuff is spec'd to last a long time and I really question the need to do this every 2 years. If it is so important to do so, you'd think that Kubota would have come up with a fail-proof method of performing this task. If the coolant looks good and the temperature gauge remains consistent, the stuff is staying in unless intelligently advised otherwise. :confused3:

Most long life coolants are rated for at least 5 years, I changed my original fill at 2 years. It took quite a few fill/drain cycles to get clear water coming out while I was flushing. I added non-diluted coolant to what was left in the system and tweaked the mixture to get the right freeze protection.

Rotella Ultra ELC claims a life cycle of 8 yrs/12,000 hrs....so I should be good for awhile.
