No wonder the economy is having such a rough time up there. Those numbers are outrageous.

Leave all the crap behind and come to Texas.

It's tempting to follow in Eddie's footsteps and we both grew up in the same neighborhood...

Most of my friends and acquaintances that moved to Texas really like it... only one didn't and it was actually his wife... so they moved back.

The water bills used to be just another bill here...

Over the last 10 years or so the bills which include sewer service but not treatment are $2 a day in flat charges... then you have to add about $3.60 for each unit of water plus sewage treatment... etc.

I have neighbors paying over $300 a month... I'm usually about $100 a month.

If my combined water and sewage bill ever gets to $100 a month, I'm going back to my well and septic system!

I hear you and a hundred a month is considered cheap here...

Ha Ha. By my rough guesstimate my "water and sewer" (new well and septic) have cost me $138/month for the seven years I have used them.

You can run, but you cannot hide.

My neighbor was renting a few acres out to a man who built a barn on it and rented out stalls. When a horse got loose the barn was inspected and several horses were found underweight. The tenant was brought to court and given $4000 in fines. He moved. They put a $4000+ lien on my neighbors property.

After hiring a lawyer for $2000 they finally got them to accept $2000 to cancel the lien so it still cost him $4000.

You're kidding! Sadly not probably. Who has the horses now? The tenant, the county/state, your neighbor?

This makes me think the 1000 bucks my water district charges for a new meter is very reasonable. I think I would find a new state to live in if they tried to charge 23000. That just me though.

I'm not on sewer. Septic . Here the sewer is owned by the county. the waterworks is run by a utility board. The county has no way to bill for sewer so, the water works board bills sewer for the county based on how much water you use. Wash your car, water your grass, fill your pool it cost you in sewer fees because, for all they know that water went in the sewer. The water board will take payment for the water you use. If you don't have the $$ to pay the sewer part. the water board will let it ride as like I said, they don't own the sewer. When the county doesn't get paid for the sewer from the water co. the sewer board will have a lien put on your property. A friend of mine has had this happen on his rental property. What makes him mad is, the sewer board will let the sewer bill get way out of hand B-4 they have the lien put on. He started calling the county every month to be sure his renters are paying the sewer bill
