Chain saws

Evidently unless you agree with it.

If not, why the 1st pull, 365 comment?

My saws don't start the first pull every time, but they still start easily...couple of pulls, no problem. My BIL really does curse his Echo as being hard to start....although I don't know what model it is.

Whatever, you like what you like and I like what I like. and yes most times my Top handle does start on the first pull

Yesterday I was trying to get some wood up, and carrying my big saw I felt every ounce after a while, noticed by the end of day, the little MS180 with the easy start was getting the most use. But the power and speed of the MS660 is a sight to see. 2013-12-15 16.46.53.jpg

Yeah, a 660 is a good size saw and impressive. My large saw now is an MS441.

I would have went with the 441, but went with the 362/660 combo. Thought CAD was a myth till I built a shrine to Sthil in my barn. Guys at work infected also.

Disregard, it appears that was a miscommunication, probably on my part.

I drain my fuel out when I not cutting for a while, like more than a week, run dry. Anyone else do this? I know that the summer blend acts different than the winter blend here, not enough to change any settings though. I think plastic for gas cans are horrible, but good steel ones are $$.

Two stroke engine makers are having second thoughts on draining all fuel - the elastomers used for fuel system gaskets & o-ring seals dry out & crack. My latest two stroke equipement calls for filling the fuel system full to store - BUT - use ONLY non alcohol gasoline & spike with a good fuel perservative.

I have been doing this for many years now with no issues. Engines start on first or second pull after 6 mos. storage this way, and no more leaky fuel systems due to dried out elastomer seals.

P.S. - always use plastic fuel cans......metal cans corrode & add junk to your equipment gas tanks.

Echo 1st pull every time 365 days a year regular junk gas.

Good for you but my Echo is a 3-5 pull saw. Not bad. Set choke pull once or twice it hits. Turn off choke and another one to two pulls and it running. Now if cold lock chain and walk away for 5 min then come back and give gas.

Learnt many years ago start the saw before you leave the house. Don't wait till in the woods to start it for the first time.

My opinion on saws.
Echo- great saw run many years, slow and steady. Wish it was faster as you need chain speed to cut leaners or you will pull out center. 5 year homeowner and 1 year pro warranties.
Stihl- great saw faster saw speed. 1 year homeowner and 90 days pro (I think)
Husqvarna- great saw fastest of three. Also seems to run bigger motors doesn't bog like the others. Not sure on warranties.

Whatever? You're the one starting some sort of argument, and you started the chest thumping with the "first pull, 365, junk gas" stuff. Yeah, right....always first pull, every single time....BS. Now you correct that to say "most times".

We were just talking about bad gas, and I said I suspect it's a big part of the problem some people have with hard starting saws....possible, but not proven...nothing more.

Again, you're fine with chest-thumping if you happen to agree with it.

Nobody said anything bad about your choice, I just said that your recently corrected false statement (first pull, all the time) isn't true for my BIL's Echo.

As always, if it bothers you, there's always the unsubscribe, or ignore functions

Your funny.

I am not agreeing or disagreeing. I am just curious why plastic cans are horrible? I see pros and cons of each. I own both, Used both and have my preference. ( if we don't want to hi-jack the thread, feel free to PM me.

Still like my Stihl. Starting is never an issue and WON'T start on first pull. EVER. 3-4 pulls and it burps. Click it up 1-2 second pull and she runs like a raped ape.
