Oil & Fuel Fuel filter on CK20 and adding lubricant to the road diesel.

The diesel fuel now has very little sulpher in it which acted as a lubricant. I also use road diesel because it's close and I only get 5 gallons at a time. I do add a Stanadyne brand additive for anti-gelling, lubricant, lower cetane, and injector cleaner. It's only a few cents per gallon and the engine starts and runs fine even in single digit temps along with no injector or pump problems so far in 600 hours. Maybe it would be fine without it but helps give me peace of mind. There have been many posts/discussions about an additive and some call it snake oil and a waste of money. Most agree that you need some form of anti-gelling additive if your temps are low but debate the lubricant property value. I guess do your own research and decide for yourself.

I agree - do a Google search for 'diesel fuel lubricity additive study' - Here is what I saved from my search:

So I went to Napa today and checked the 3389 and the end has a .520 opening like the web site said, so I will take the 2 day old filter out and replace it with this one, should slide right on. Only thing is I do not have the o-ring the manual show at the top of the filter, how hard is it to find fuel safe o-rings?

Napa might have them, or could order them or you could get one from a Kioti dealer. Don't run your tractor until the correct size o-ring is in place.

Does not sound a request for advice... sounds like a request for information about where to buy.

Rancho..wondering if it is time to leave this forum.

Your "o" ring may be stuck on the nipple of the filter housing preventing the element from seating properly causing the slight crush you noticed on both the old element you replaced as well as the new. The "o" ring has a groove on the inside circumference that must be fitted to the top of the element, thus sealing the inside of the element from the filtered outside

When I bought this tractor it had over 600 hours on it (and the fuel filter I took out last Friday), I have put another 200 hours on it in the last year and a half. Based on what I saw on Friday this was all done without the o-ring. Does the o-ring need to be there, yes it does, will I ruin the tractor without it yes eventually that might happen. Will the tractor be ruined tomorrow if I run it today maybe, but the chances of that are not that great based on the last year and a half. I will replace the o-ring, but will run the tractor as needed till then.

Thanks for the assistance in figuring out that WIX 33389 is NOT the filter to use in the future but that the NAPA 3389 (also made by WIX) is the correct filter.

You asked for advice, I gave what any reasonable person would tend to do. Following bad practice when you know what the problem has been is foolish. Do what you want; it won't hurt me one bit.

+1 here. I don't have a dime invested. Might as well run it with no filter at all; look at the savings.

Definition of "Forum": fo·rum /ˈfôrəm/
noun

1. a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

Getting mad accomplishing nothing but clouding one's judgment. By leaving this forum, you will only hurt yourself. There is much knowledge here.

Most auto parts stores sell O-rings which will stand up to fuel immersion. The hard part will be knowing the exact size to get.

It is not like the old 49 chevy truck that worked fine until 1985 when we sold it, never had a oil filter.

Found the o-ring, but the 33389 filter has almost the same problem as the 3389, it will not fit over the nipple sticking out of the housing. Guess I am calling a dealer this week and ask them to measure a Kioti filter and see if it is big enough to fit over the nipple. oh well...
