Anti Freeze Coolant - So What's The Story?

Fred, your Kubota uses the green coolant, the ethylene glycol stuff we've used since the 60's.plain old permanent antifreeze. We have no cylinder liners to worry about as your Kubota engine is a parent bore engine(no liners). With all this all makes/all models coolant out there,it can be hard to find the real stuff your tractor comes with.See the dealer or a good parts store for your coolant, mix 50/50 with distilled water, drain and refill every two years for best results.Good Luck!

I know it is likely overkill, but I use Fleetguard from Cummins.

I just buy the 50/50 mix sold at the JD place. Change it every other year. Will use the same stuff in my Isuzu diesel generator. Don't have an "Isuzu" source for it.

Think being diesel has nothing to do with it. Depends on the radiator, engine metals. Buy one that's crafted for your engine.

You can add products to regular anti freeze, one of the long time standards is nalcool they even sell test strips to test your mixture. Any dealer that sells and services over the road trucks will have it.
Galvonic corrosion because of the dissimilar metals (mainly aluminum) is what there trying to avoid .

I have always used the standard 50/50 mix of prestone and water. If you buy it premixed you pay extra for that. Also some store name brands apparently according to a thread on here, are not what they claim.. I will stick to prestone in the yellow bottle and mix it myself.

that and sca/dca addatives.. etc.

Is the fleet guard HOAT antifreeze ? I have a 5.9 Cummins and it calls for HOAT antifreeze.I've been able to find it at NAPA I believe it's made by Zerex

no electrolysis? there's nothing other than 1 type of metal in that block anywhere in the coolant water system? no brass or soft mild steel plugs? no aluminum.. no copper? all 100% cast iron in contact with water? I'd use an sca / dca unless i could answer that question with 100% certainty

bingo..

people have parent bore engines and think the sca/dca addatives are not needed due to no .. or reduced cavitation.. and forget the other half of the equation.
