does a dryer have to go on a exterior wall

/ does a dryer have to go on a exterior wall #12
Our dryer is on the inside wall with 2 90's and total of 10 foot run.

Washer and dryers are often next to each other. On an outside wall you can't run the plumbing inside the wall. It's a world full of trade offs.[/QUOTE]

Why can't you put the plumbing inside and outside wall? I owned, lived in 3 different house in 30 years in cold climate on Minnesota and all 3 had washer & dryer against outside wall on main floor. Process for doing this is put the insulation between the plumbing and outside sheeting and no insulation between plumbing and the inner wall board. That keeps the extreme cold away from the plumbing and allows heat from the housing to transfer through sheet rock and keep pipes warm. My houses were all 2X4 stud walls but it is much easier to do with 2X6 wall.

ventless i assume is the same as venting into one of those bucket lint trap contraptions , when doing this all that moisture is dumped into your living space. Thats not too bad in the dry winter but a no no any other time.

I think the ideal location is to have the dryer and washer on an interior wall that joins an exterior wall not too far away. That way the dryer can vent to the outside with a short, straight run and the plumbing can be a little more freeze tolerant in cold climates.

Plumbing shouldn't freeze, I know, but it can if the house loses heating long enough. Say if you go away for the weekend, and the furnace fails, or power is off.

I hate the location of the vent on the dryer itself. Most seem to be down near the bottom in the rear. Normally they are hard to get to without moving the dryer. Then they tell you ought to regularly clean it. The stub of pipe for the vent on the dryer is just long enough to make you swear when trying to get the vent hose or pipe fastened to it.

does the plumber usually install the dryer ?

I don't. It's up to the home owner. Each dryer has their own specs for venting. Manufacture specs for dryer venting trumps code. I have vented a few. I wouldn't use the flex vent. Lint tends to clog them up due the rough interior of the pipe. Try to run smooth metal without screws (use metal tape for the joints)

i hear ya. whoever thought it was a good idea to make that 1/2" stub pipe inthe hard to get at spot should be universally required to service ALL dryers made like that for lifetime, every time one needs to be cleaned or repaired.... during those service calls.. one would hope a new design comes up out of the blue.. and they should have to go out at their own expense... now ask me how i really feel...

Some dryers have optional side vent. Knock out the round disc and re route the vent to the side. while in there you can extend vent pipe out as much as you have room for

I had a ventless Bosch condensing dryer that was essentially a spinning dehumidifier. The water came out of a drain hose that went into the same standpipe as the washer. It used less energy than a regular dryer but took longer to dry the clothes. The matching washer spun the clothes at 1200 rpm so they were drier going in which makes a difference too. It was a sealed unit so it didn't leak any lint into the air. I did find I had to periodically take it apart and clean the lint out.

Here in this part of the world its dry,dry in the summer and even dryer in the winter. I vent my dryer directly into the basement with one of those bucket lint trap contraptions. I'm sure it must help the moisture level some, but not much, it normally runs 25-30% inside the house - summer and winter. The house is 100% solid cedar and soaks up moisture like a sponge.
