Herein lies the issue (in my opinion).

Assuming Fred's tractor under performed BEFORE the turbo install, he would have a legitimate claim. Who would more fraudulent, he or the dealer who sold him an under performing tractor at top dollar?

Who in their right mind would publish the last several digits of a serial #, whether vehicle, firearm, etc?!?

How can we judge a man's actions (or character) before he does something? So many times the accuser reflects his/her own values with their suspicion. (I've had girlfriends ..)

Engine damage a 'given'? Are turbo'd versions of this engine (Bobcat) set out to curbs on junk day because they don't hold up? (I'll be looking)

My mind is made up that those who decry this mission are far less capable that its leader, and/or refuse to appreciate his diligence. We have a chance to help a guy out and learn a lot here, ... or bug out. (Trolls ought to go pick on some guy who says he doesn't need a dog or something. :D)

Exactly......

This thread is once again being driven into the dirt by fill in the blanks -----s.
The Fred hasn't committed any fraud, nor has his selling dealer. The dealer sold him a tractor which he readily admits is under-powered. He chose to keep it, NOT trade it for a more powerful one, HIS CHOICE; no fraud committed. The Fred chose to obscure his vin, just as I would choose to NOT give out my SS# if asked; I only share the last four to anyone wanting to use it for verification. That doesn't make him dishonest of not have moral or ethical convictions. Get over yourselves on this issue, it's NOT worth discussion. IF he were to damage the engine, and that's still an IF, and then sell the tractor without full disclosure to a potential buyer it would be a private sale and buyer beware would apply. An obvious drawback to buying used equipment, at times, is one can get a not straight deal, and that's part of the risk of buying used- NO guarantees! Too bad, so sad. One wants factory perfect with a guarantee? Buy NEW! Get a warranty, or don't, pay top dollar for it and move on.

Keep all the moralistic, self-riteous, god fearing, political stuff out of this thread. Start a thread about politics and morals and convictions elsewhere and keep it out of this discussion.
If Kubota wants to know about The Fred's tractor they can figure it out through oil analysis or NSA wire tapping or some other method, eventually. And in the meantime find another tree to mark.

Thanks for the moral support guys and some of you thought I was a troll. Still haven't received any death threats yet like my post about filling my tractor from the heating oil tank in that other thread months ago; now THAT was funny. I'm not out to screw or deceive anyone, never have been. I sleep well all night.

I have a 5 year old Chevy 2500 HD bought brand new in 08, it has a plow and 12,000 miles. It sits all clean and tidy in a heated garage ready for the next storm. I wash the salt off it after every use and the machine looks better than any 2008 pickup truck on the road in these parts. Last Spring I went to trade it for a brandy new Ford Powersmoke pickup for $55,000 dollars, my truck was 38 grand in 08.

The sales manager at the Ford stealership drove my truck then assessed it's value at $22,000 LOW TRADE. He then told me that due to the very low mileage the "book" showed him adding another 5 grand to the pot. After which he shook his head and told me they would only give me $20 grand for my CLEAN trade ONLY AFTER I REMOVED THE PLOW. At which point I asked him why? He said that anyone paying good money for this truck would never buy it knowing it had a snowplow on it. I reminded him that almost everyone looking at this truck to buy certainly wants it for plowing. He said "yes that's correct and we would sell them a new plow for $5800 dollars. I bought the Kubota instead and kept the truck with 12,000 miles on it.....That's the day my life changed, that and the day I joined this forum :pullinghair:

So tell me folks who is cheating who?

The beat goes on, Fred

I started to follow the thread with more interest when I saw some of Fred's fabrication skills. Along the way I think I saw an old air cooled VW engine with transmission. Then I read his talk about TDIs. I have driven VWs since 1977. Then I see he has a Snap On toolbox. Currently I am balking at the price of USA made toolboxes so I will probably get a HF 52" toolbox which appears to have the same construction as my current 27" too small toolbox. Fred has some cool tools.

By the way I had my TDI chipped at 30,000 mile when my car had a 50,000 mile warranty. Later I got bigger nozzles and a different tune. I "dangerously" added another 10-20 hp to the engine. Too cheap to dyno it and I am due for some fresh nozzles anyway. I think the odometer shows 382,000 miles now. Performance tuning an engine does not necessarily mean the destruction of an engine. I think a 1984 VW diesel with a 50 HP engine was pretty darn slow. You could get the same car with a turbo but I never drove one. Probably a lot nicer to drive and no longevity issues. I do know that the 4th gen VW TDIs are peppy enough when the turbo is working but pretty darn slow when they are not.

My only question is how you tune this engine for the turbo. I mean adding enough fuel at the right time to compensate for the added air.

So far the work is nice and tidy which I like.

Well that makes perfect sense then...

I got the raw deal from the dealer therefore if this turbo doesn't work out the tractor will be returned to stock and I will s*#ew someone else.

That is ridiculous!

Some of your posts (such as those about dumping this on insurance if it breaks, selling it (with known problems) to someone after pulling the turbo, the heating oil posts, etc) certainly seem trollish if one uses the description of a troll in Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_%28Internet%29 said:
In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion

Well, this is an online forum, most (all?) of us never have and never will know you in person. As such, the only frame of reference that we have is the words/pictures you post.
Given the limitations on this medium of communication, why are you surprised that people are taking your words at face value?

I personally would have done a little more diagnostics to make sure there wasn't something else in the hydraulic system causing problems, but its your money, its an interesting project and the workmanship looks great.
