Suggestion for the funky text characters in pasted quotes/text

Not sure what the issue is but I'm sure everyone has seen the funky (mis-parsed) characters when a member posts pasted text that contains certain characters...

It could possibly have something to do with the way 'regular expressions' are configured?

I am not familiar with whatever version of software (vBulletin)? etc. powering the forum...but is should not be difficult to add a 'preg_replace' string into the form action code...?

Thanks...I never looked at those icons (thought they were for text size/case/color)...after you pointing this out...there should be a "sticky" somewhere because I have never seen mention of the "remove format" and "paste as..." icon functions mentioned when said "funky characters" appear in pasted text...that does not mean I have not missed it...

The "remove formatting" doesn't fix this issue (at least not in the enhanced editor, it may in the WSYSIG/Rich Text editor). This is caused by angled quotes ( ). They are a problem because TBN uses ASCII and ASCII only has straight quotes while the angled quotes are Unicode

U+2019 - right single quotation mark - ’ - Single curved quote, right
U+201C - left double quotation mark - “ - Double curved quote, or "curly quote", left
