Yes, Brandi, i would. I bought 4 pigs in April. Gave them a nice home, food & water twice a day for 6 months & still sent them to the freezer. good eatin' too. Remember your meat doesn't come from the supermarket, it is brought there by butchers. Pig farmers are farmers too. Sorry!

So you would eat Oscar, a full grown hog? Let me get this right.......you stated above.....I would highly recommend hiring a butcher though. Why hire a butcher? We butcher what we raise or kill.

I did not know butchers brought meat to the "supermarket". I thought truck drivers did that.

From what you describe, you raised 4 hogs, not pets. There is a difference.

Oscar is a celebrity. How many hogs do you know that have an arrest record?

On the farm we ate what we raised... still do for the family still farming.

Still remember visiting a great aunt as a child and she asked if we liked chicken... later there were two less chickens in the yard.

Always had a bull and a couple of pigs each year too.

My neices ages 6, 8 and 10 from California and I were visiting my cousin on the day they butchered a pig...

Her kids were really excited because they said tonight Papa said they could eat all the sauages they wanted!

My sister in law, myself and the girls spent hours making sauages and thought nothing of it... and boy were they tasty!

Never thought of Oscar as anything but a superstar...

Well said. Long live Oscar the pet. Oscar won the lottery when Eddie found him and I bet he is going to live out his natural life. All lottery winners should have it made.

Oscar has been bringing grass and twigs to his house and using them as part of his bed. It actually looks more like a nest then anything else!! Karen decided to get him some hay and see what he did. Turns out he loves it and went right to work remodeling his home. Who would have thought he liked home improvement so much?
