Am not aware of CRC. Can you tell me what it is?

I haven't heard of it either...here's a video:

Can't hurt to try it...but if it doesn't work fairly quickly, you may have a burr on one (or more) of the tractor's PTO stub shaft splines, or the internal splines on the implement's PTO drive shaft.
There have been a couple of TBNers that have actually cut the PTO driveshaft yoke...

I had one stuck several years ago...I used PB Blaster and a steady pressure. It took a couple days (re-applying the PB Blaster, giving it time to penetrate and then the steady pull) and it did come off. Since then, I use a water-displacing lubricant (Fluid Film now) on both the male and female splines...I never keep a PTO drive shaft connected for an extended period of time either.

Good luck!!!!

I will keep that stuff in mind.

I wonder if you pushed a big bar of steel cross-ways into the U joint and whacked the end down in the opposite direction that the PTO shaft would normally turn would this possibly free up the galling that may have occurred between the PTO stub and the U joint coupler. Just an Idea, and would not take long to try it.

os use the big iron as a drive rod and drive it off with a hammer.

it may have experienced a long pto shaft and be jammed.

ps

watch the direct pull son that pto shaft.. might damage the bearing carrier or snap ring / bearing ont he tractors pto stub shaft!

Roy,
you have some good comments and if I ever get this thing appart, like you I'll not leave them connected again.

I especially like you Bi-Line at the bottom of your email and could not agree more.

k0ua,

Really like this idea.

I have a 5410 John Deere tractor with a 10' wide mower. The mower pto shaft has become stuck on the tractor's pto shaft. I have remove the standard release pin completely. I can see all the way through the hole where the pin
holds the mower pto shaft on the tractor and have confirmed the release pin is NOT the problem. Have use two pry bars to try to pry the mower shaft off while pulling on it with a 2000 pound come-along.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm confused as to what 'pin' you have removed...

...while pulling on it with a 2000 pound come-along.

What I would try, if it didn't have to be off fast.

Put about 500 pounds pull on it, so it can be maintained, then soak it twice a day with Kroil, PB Blaster, or ATF-acetone mix.

Before and after adding the oil, use an air impact hammer with a blunt tip all around the joint to supply lots of vibration. If you don't have one, try lots of hammer taps, but not hard enough to damage it.

I'm guessing he has the style with a pin you push to release the shaft from the tractor instead of the collar type. They are usually held in the coupler with a E clip or a snap ring. I'm thinking that is what he has removed.

Here is a diagram I shamelessly borrowed. See key #1.

I'm a bit confused as well....

Did you unhook the mower from the 3 point linkage and drive the tractor away from the mower so the shaft separates in to two pieces?

Sometimes grease and clipping muck holds the shafts together so tight they will not slide together when you try to pull the coupling off the PTO shaft.

Once you get them to slide in the middle you find that was the problem rather than the PTO connection.

You should know what kind of shape your splines were in when you put the shaft on. Were they sloppy or burred?
