The Airing of Grievances

Every time I find something I like, they stop selling it. Doesn't matter what it is, shoes, clothes, music, books, movies, food.

Or, as in my recent purchase of what used to be thickly cushioned merino wool socks made by a company named Kodiak from Sportsmans Guide, they are advertised as the same, have the same item number and price, but are no longer made with the same quailty of materials, i.e., thin and noncushioning merino-like wool.

That a Stihl MS261 (3.75 HP, 11.6 Pounds, $599.95) as compared to a Stihl MS290 Farm Boss (3.8 HP, 13.0 Pounds, $409.95) is significantly more powerful (1.3% less horsepower) and significantly lighter (10.7% lighter) to justify its significantly increased cost (31.6% more expensive).

I saw the same kind of listings when I bought my first (and so far only) Farm Boss about 20 years ago, and was told that it was the difference between a professional saw and ag/ranch model saw that justified the price difference. My Farm Boss continues to kick behind and take names while my friend's saws (other brands and models) have died and gone away.

Both are great saws. I have a 026 and a MS261, but I always wanted a Farm Boss too. I guess it is just the farmer in me.

I forgot to add the greivance that they stopped allowing ordering and buying online, unless it is for an instore pickup. I saved around $100 by buying mine from an obscure out of state dealer.

I loaned one of my extension cords out once. It didn't work when I got it back, I don't think the guy filled it back up with electrons when he gave it back. Or maybe he put them in backwards.

-Joke I heard once, I've been waiting to tell it.
Please point out the joke.

Begging your pardon, but didn't you neglect to also correct his negligent use of the the word negligent in place of negligence in the quoted sentence?

59. Failure to learn the difference between quite, quiet and quit.
60. And as someone pointed out to me on a Naval Fiction message board, coarse is a perfectly good English word, but course is really the way I should steer.

Next time you are up in Alaska, check it out. It is kind of the same thing, the electrons get so cold up there that they freeze to the copper, rendering the extension cord useless. The net effect is that the electrons act the same, the copper wires act like they were not refilled with electrons so no juice comes out the end.

-verified by a blind person who watched the whole thing through a knot hole in the barbed wire fence.
