R4 vs Ag Tires on M6040HDC

The "combo" tires may have rugged sidewalls and excellent grip, but I doubt the lugs are as tough as R-4s. Meaning real abusive conditions like logging or rocky areas may be hard on the lugs.

Having a general idea on your area and your average 54" of rain per year, I would go for the R-1 tires. I used to have several test combines running in the Delta area and surviving the harvest with R-2-0 Rice & Cane tires (double R-1 tread height) was a challenge even with rear wheel assist. Do you have rocky areas or are you in riverbottom silt with which I am familiar? We have R-4 tires on our CUT but it has 10.5-16 tires - basically skid steer tires, small but capable of handling a heavy load. I believe the R-1s for your tractor are sized for an ag tractor with loader. Where I live is quite different - a very fine clay that works good as a pond liner because not much water percolates through. The R-4s on our CUT are fine for jobs where traction is not a concern but wheel slip is incredible under a pull when the ground is anything but super dry.

I vote for R1 with foam in the fronts so you don't have to worry about flats and under inflation while using the loaded.
This week it thawed a little and my r4 on a b26 are useless I should have left it in the shed.

Thanks for your input. My homeplace where this tractor will mainly be used is pasture, slight hills, mostly high ground but with a creek running through it. It's not rocky at all, but not the flat black MS River Delta either. Our big farm about 30 miles to the east is river delta type ground, and I may haul it over there some. We use R2 rice and cane tires on our farm tractors and combines. Our backhoe has industrial tires and they are worthless in the mud, so I know what you're saying. I don't really plan to use this tractor much in the mud or in plowed ground, but, you never know.

i dont care what tires you get R1s or R4s get all 4 tires filled with tire sealant.

Hey all, just got the tractor delivered today. Thanks for your responses. I decided to stick with the R4's since most of my work is going to be on my pasture and loader work. I guess I'll find out if that was a good decision sooner or later.

Congrats on the new tractor, my tractor has R4s and I have been happy with them.

Don't forget water in rear tires or some other weights for pallets of feed. I have same tractor. I had to set the fel on power pin setting, water in rears, plus 7' bb and now it will handle a full pallet of feed (40 bags). Congrats

How much bigger foot print would you say the Michelin gives over what Kubota puts on?
