Hello all: I am going to sell a Kioti 3054 for my daughter, I had a lot of fun replacing grills, glow plugs, lights, ignition switch,
stripped drain plugs, fuel bowl and filter, and removed 10lbs of grease and grime. It really cleaned up great.
It starts great and runs very smooth. The gears seem nice and tight, and the power steering works well.
It does smoke a little though, and I have a lot of blowby on the breather tube. I have hard time selling something that's broke. Can I pull off the oil pan,
and pull the pistons out the bottom, and put in new rings and rod bearings? I am afraid to pull the head off with all the pump timing ect.
Thanks Dave-R

I suggest going to edit at the bottom of your post, clicking on it and after copying the post delete it here and repost it in the Kioti owning operating forum. There you will gather more answers to your question and likely better results.

BTW, welcome to TBN.:D

You can't take rods out of the bottom you have to remove the head. only thing to do from the bottom is bearings

You should be able to remove head without removing fuel pump or messing with the timing

Removing cyl head is the only feasible way to R&R piston rings. There would be no room for ring compressor operation from the bottom even if pistons could be R&R'd from the bottom which there isn't room.

Thanks for your help, I think I will try to work the tractor for a day and see if a little heat will maybe loosen the rings a little.
As I came by this as a used tractor, I don't know how many hours at has or how many oil changes it missed. I changed the oil and filter
and put in 10/30 for this winter. Maybe I should try the 15/40 like I run in my truck. The tractor just does not look worn out.
If anyone has any thoughts they are appreciated. Thanks Dave-R.

Better to go with 5W-40 diesel synthetic, choose brand of preference, Rotella T-6 for instance, or Mobil1, or ???
You need the 5W rating for cold weather starting enhancement and diesel formulated synthetic for same benefits as well as longer change intervals. You can also do an oil analysis and find out general condition of the engine's wear.
