Niiiice..!! Mine have only run cottontails once.....They seemed to run tighter circles Do you run tracking collars?

No we don't use trackers, we do use little bells on their collars to hear them when they aren't barking. It would probably help keep other predators off if them too.
Cottontails do run a tighter circle, the dogs rarely get super far away. But if you can find swamp rabbits, those guys get up and make a huge circle! And they are significantly larger than cottontails so you get a bigger meal.

I just got back from another good bunny run today, 3 snowshoe hare in 8.6 miles, in 4 hrs

The last hare for the day (male) ran far away and when I caught up to it I was .75 miles from where the dogs jumped it

If it wasn't for the tracking collars it would be sometimes impossible to catch up to the dogs....I never let my dogs off the leash without them (shock collars too)

The bells are great if I have amateur hunters in the group and the runs have many checks in them.....Good idea for predator repellant

bringing this back

nice cold snowy day had a great last sturday hunt. wound up with 24 ducks (11 F ruddy, 6M rubby, 4 F mallard, 1 F merganser, 1 M redhead, 1 M gadwall) and 7 geese.





was a little cold.

No deer for us this year. We saw a few does and one forked horn buck, which isn't legal here. I have a few pics of a legal 8 point on my game camera, but we never saw him. For next year, we are going to try to get a better food plot in and hope for the best.

At the Dallas Safari Club show two weeks ago, we booked a safari to South Africa for plains game. The outfitter told Karen she could shoot a few animals too, so she is very excited about getting a springbuck and maybe something else. We'll be there the last two weeks of August. 12 days of hunting and two days of taking pictures of the animals in the parks. One thing that is kind of exciting about the outfitter is they raise lions to reintroduce to the wild. There is always a few cubs hanging out at the house.

We have a lot of does around here, I shot a doe with my crossbow early never seen a buck, to much snow for me to rabbit hunt, been ice fishing.
