I have a B7610 which is much smaller than yours. I have a Curtis 6 1/2' power angle plow on it and have never had any problems plowing with it. I have plowed everything from 1' up to 30" wet or dry. Most years I do not need chains, but if I get an ice base like this year, then the chains are needed for the traction. Just make sure you have counter weight on the back end.

I have an L3400 and I push a 7'6" meyers truck plow right off the subframe that I custom built. Just needed front v-bar 2 link chains to keep the steering with the plow angled. Never had any problems pushing a blade so full snow was coming back over the top of it. I might invest in some rear chains this year or next since I now maintain a steeper unpaved driveway.

Why does Kubota recommend the 5' size for L3400?

I have even seen garden tractors with 4-5' blades which was why I asked the question about blade size in the first place. I am actually going to pass on the 6' blade I was looking at. On closer inspection, the owner torched off the hydraulic cylinders and made it a manual angle but did a bad job of it.

How much snow do you get in Michigan? VT varies from year to year, but I do live in a higher snow area, where I get almost daily snow of a couple of inches and then larger amts with storms. Have had to have someone come in with a bucket loader to move banks back some years as there was no room to put more snow.
I live in the snow belt in northern michigan. In December alone we got about 60" this year. Our average winter snow fall is about 140". This is my first year with this setup. Here is a pic before I got the chains on. And one of my chains. Sent from my iPhone using TractorByNet

Do you have a picture of your plow. It seems with a custom subframe, you would avoid damage to the FEL arms which may be why Kubota doesn't recommend the larger size plow. I have seen lots of older Fergusen's out there with frame mounted plows and wished that was an option for my tractor.

Looks like a nice set up. I think I have similar snowfall here. Thanks.

This is the Sub-frame from the b7510 we used to have. I think there are pictures still on here.

Plow Mount Build Thread

North- I'll have to get some of the L3400 though. I built it specifically so that I didn't have to mount it to the loader arms. I felt it was much strong connection and it made manuvering a little easier as well. I wouldn't ever put a plow on a Quick Attach unless it was on a skid loader. I have used the subframe for 3+ years now and It will easily push a 7.5' plow till snow is rolling over the top. I can still stack snow pretty high and I have no issues running into a solid bank and pushing it back with the way I have it mounted.

Let me know if you want any pictures. The only I would change is that I built the lift post out of 1"x1" tubing and I bent it one morning when I picked the plow up while it was frozen to the ground. :confused3: Lesson learned on that, bump it first to break it loose then lift it! lol

You should be able to handle a six ft.I had a six ft.sub-frame mounted on a L3130 HST,and currently have a 8ft.FEL mounted on a L4240 HSTC.You may have to chain up if running turfs or R4's.Both of mine were running R1's (Ag)

I use 7'6' blade on my L2800 works great.
6' would be okay for straight pushing,if your going to 45 degree blade not enough for rear tire snow row.
