Giving up on 2750d blower

The first thing I'd do is melt that snow away to see what you're dealing with. You can't figure a course of action until you know what it is. You can use hot water or a torch maybe. If it's a rock maybe you can break it up. But you need to see what it is to figure out how to deal with it.

Not to dis anyone, but this is one of the reasons I went with a rear-mounted snowblower. I know it's a pain to look back while using it. But the components seem to be a little heavier-duty and the pto shaft is stouter and shorter as well. Plus you get to keep the use of your bucket.
Forgot to mention: cheaper too.

I agree. The FEL / rear blower combination has served me well. It was 6 degrees this morning and I envy all you guys with cabs.

The front blowers I have looked at are made with tighter clearances than my Farm King which is probably why they throw snow so far. Mine is very sloppy and will hardly throw snow 15' at WOT but, I've had it three seasons and not broken a shear pin yet.

I agree with Dean. Melt the snow away with some hot water. I doubt it will take much to clear it away, then you can see what you're doing.

I used my BX2750D for years before I sold it, and I never once broke a shear pin. It's a great snowblower, so don't give up on it!

Yeah, melt it then move it. What comes to mind is not beating on the blades, but breaking up what's jamming them. I think you could use an air driven chisel to break the jam quickly then back to plowing! JMHO. :thumbsup:

Ahhhh! An excuse to go buy a tool I don't already have! I like it! It's supposed to warm up in a couple of days so I'll melt it out then but I'm pretty sure it's a rock the more I think about it. I like the idea of going at the object and not the blades. I'll give that a try.

Yeah, now you're thinking! An air driven chisel is not an expensive item, and with a few good chisels you can get a lot of impact right where you want it. Think of it this way, whatever got jammed is now wedged in place, your objective is to unwedge the object, not your fan. If you can pulverize the object the fan spins, and then you are back in biz.:dance1:
I got a short handled air impact tool and a kit of bits/chisels for next to nothing at H. Depot. It's saved the bacon on more than one project.

Shear pins break, get used to it. Lately here it has been -40F and shear pins break a lot more often. Buy a punch slightly smaller than the shear pin (the one I bought cost $1) . rotate the (of course you have shut the tractor off) auger while tapping the punch through the hole with a small hammer, ( you will have to move the auger left to right, forward and backward, you will feel when the punch fits into the hole, if it does not, rotate the pto shaft or fan 1/2 of a turn) until things line up. Then put in the new shear bolt you bought from your dealer. Tighten somewhat tight. Similar situation when you eventually shear the pin for your fan.

Thanks for the suggestions, but in this case the fan is jammed and won't rotate so I can't change the shear bolt. I have a punch and a full supply of replacement bolts ready to go if I can free the fan. I realize the pins are there to protect the drive train from damage so they serve a valuable purpose but it doesn't help when you are looking at a foot and a half of snow that needs to be moved.
