I bought this loader and just finished mounting it - and it is an older loader Davis 8D14.
The cylinders are quite large.

I'm running the loader via the pto mounted pump to the IN of the valve assembly and from there -to the sump.

It took a while and some manual lifting to get the bucket cylinders to move completely (and alot of oil) -actually from a dump position back to a normal cutting edge horizontal position..

there is obviously a pressure relief on the valve assembly.

the loader bucket will not lift the front end of the tractor up... there comes a squeeching sound from the valve assembly when it is at the point of lifting the front end of the tractor off the ground.

I had a smaller loader on the tractor that was set up the same way and had no problem lifting the front end up.

question: if you had to diagnose the issue what would you say it is?

You comment of a "squeeching sound from the valve assembly" sounds to me like the relief valve is kicking in. Does it make the same sound if you keep the lever to curl the bucket activated after the bucket is fully curled?
If so, its the relief valve.
First thing would be to get a gauge on it to see how much pressure it is making when the relief valve kicks in and compare that to how much it should be making.

ok that makes sense. i'll double check on that assuming that it does make that sound. put on the gauge and go from there. will report back when i get those numbers. thanks aczlan.

That was it. It was such an old assembly that the screw to adjust wouldn't budge so I shimmed it with a one washer and stuck a gauge on and pushed out 1500psi.. Pretty safe for now . Thanks for the help. Db

Ah yes and enough to lift the front end
