I'm with you what a great place for a BBQ/party area. I'd leave the entire slab so you already have a dance floor in place for parties. Good luck with arm wrestling but my experience is the old saying "if momma ain't happy ain't nobody happy"!

 Good work!

What are the details on the grapple fork?

Bought the grapple/forks last year from a place called Neon Material Handling in Ohio. Saw the unit on Ebay and it is exactly what I needed. For over 40 years we have had a Pecan orchard and every time the wind gets over 35 mph there are literally hours of picking up large branches in the orchard. I have always taken a flat bed trailer and hand loaded the large branches but at 60 Y.O. it has killed my back over the years. Should have bought such a unit back when I was younger! I can now take whole medium sized trees toppled over, drive right up to them, and walk off with the grapple in seconds. Lifting the larger branches allows me to chainsaw them up on the spot or move to a burn pile. The forks are adjustable and the unit is also good for wood pallets which I use a lot at the nursery.

PS- For some reason I do not see this particular unit on the Neon site but they do have a similar unit with a different fork set up.

PPS- Since the picture was taken I have rerouted and attached the hydraulic hoses in a much safer manner.

My plan or the wife's plan? I want to keep about 30 feet of the slab on the far left of the picture for a "BBQ"type area. The wife wants it totally removed and native coastal Bermuda planted to make it look like a park. her view is that we already have a huge deck from the back of the house out over the water where we entertain/fish/BBQ already. Look closely near the upper left in the slab picture and you can see the green stained deck. I guess we will have to arm wrestle for the answer!

Well maybe you can erect a pavilion like picnic shelter on the slab. That would look like a park!

How nice is the deck and BBQ area you already have? If I already had a nice deck and BBQ, I'd tend to agree with your wife and remove that concrete slab. It would be nice if you needed to build something on it that wasn't right in front of your view of the river, but with such an amazing view, I'd go with grass and a beautiful view.

I just finished the deck about 3 months back and so far have had rave reviews from friends that have come over. BBQ pits are mobile and kept in one of the barns when not in use. Yes, this deck would be considered pretty nifty by most. We also have a manicured grassy area next to the deck for lawn chairs etc.

Boy, that would be the pad for my new shop! I would love to have a nice flat area and a pad already poured. I would also put a little deck on the river side so I could fish and no one could see me goofing off from the house. :D
