DK45SE chainsaw holder

I need to figure out where to mount one of these on my cabbed DK50SE.

If you get it figured out, be sure to post the result here. I haven't yet figured a good way to mount the saw on the tractor directly, but have home-made scabbards (almost identical to the one in the video) on my chipper, carry-all and box blade.

I looked all over for a commercial method to mount my chainsaw, including ATV mounts and found nothing that was simple, easy to use and fool proof. I like your idea. I need to carry a lot of tools with a goal of storage flexibility for the many various items I am using to clear my new home site. I also have a Dewalt DCS380M1 reciprocating saw coming for cutting large roots that should "mount" in one of the 4" tubes. Here is my setup.

If I had things to do over, I might replace one of the inboard 3" and 4" tubes with a single 6" that would carry tools with a D handle.

Very nice.

Thanks for this! Your photos have inspired me, I have vertical storage tubes on the right side of my machine. Yours are heavy-wall tubing and have much more capacity than mine. I am thinking about a remodeling job! My thin-wall ABS is showing signs of wear after only 1 year.

Also the encouragement of a reply post WITH PHOTOS has fired me up to do another video about box blade mods. I have just posted it on the Customization forum at http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/customization/300725-kioti-dk45se-box-blade-carry.html

Yeah, I seriously considered that ATV chainsaw carrier, but the back of my tractor is already full and I need full mobility of the ROPS. Where did you get the ignition switch cover? I am very interested in this. End quote(s)

Is there any reason in addition to you're wanting to use your ROPS and having stuff on the back of the tractor that keeps you from using the Kolpin saw carrier?

The ig switch cover is a couple of $ from any Kioti dealer that knows anything about the tractors and their propensity to die in the presence of the elements.

- Coyote machine:

- I have no need for the Kolpin saw carrier now, as my tubes work great and are flexible for carrying anything. I just drop the saw in the tube or pull it out as required.

- I will certainly add the switch cover to my list of spare relays (and switch).

Oercheron:

I like your video and if I could weld, your ideas would solve my last storage problem of what to do with the Brush Grubber BG-11. I like the BG-11 far better than using plain chain when pulling vertical tree trunks/stumps as the BG-11 does not slip.

sdef, what is the orange and aluminum tool in the left side tubes? Some sort of peavy, or similar?

Coyote machine. it is called the Woodchuck. It is a log lifter for chainsaw work. They also have a peavey. Had I used it last weekend while cutting trees at my new home site, instead of leaving it inside the Jeep, I would not have ruined a new chain when I ran it into a rock on the last cut of the day...

These are very high quality tools for just a bit more money. And to me are worth far more than the less expensive, normally available models. My Woodchuck was $129 delivered and is a beautifully designed piece of equipment. I just got it so can't speak to how good it works, but am confident it will be FAR better than my other one I gave away to a worthy cause. "Cause" it just irritated the heck out of me to use it.
