Looks like that truck has major frame damage.

Reminds me of two fool friends in high school. Both had Olds V8's. One towed the other, whose engine was removed for overhaul. The guy towing wanted to impress his buddy so he started off at full throttle. Those old first-generation Hydramatics had a super low first gear that would leap a couple of carlengths before shifting to second. He got to the end of the slack in the tow chain ... then bent the front crossmember of the car being towed badly. I don't remember if the second guy ever got his engine back into that Olds.

My father-in-law took these pictures a few weeks ago... and yes, that is a road grader being tower by a 1/2 ton Chevy. The bottom of the bed was touching the cab. He was driving very slow but making progress when these pics were captured.
Whoever designed that wrecker hoist on the back, did a poor job of matching the lift capacity to the frame capacity of the truck...

I am impressed the backyard engineering proved to be that stout. Usually things are built to fail these days. Now if they would've spent another half day tacking on a couple I-beams under that frame, all would be good. LOL

I live near Ft. Smith Ar. and have recently spotted several cases of multitowing on I40. That is a pickup hauling two good sized boats, both on bumper pull trailers. Has this somehow become legal? Both times it was in the middle of a business day.

We do it all the time here. My neighbor pulls his 38' 5th wheel and a 21' ski boat from Indiana to Florida behind his 2006 Ram 3500 diesel 4x4 Single Rear Wheel.

I have done a 28' boat and a trailer behind that.
