:drool::drool::drool::drool: You nailed the bonus points! That is an insanely awesome setup!
Are those Camoplast tracks?

That'll work too!
When I was a kid, I was a diehard subscriber of DIRT WHEELS magazine, and I remember reading reviews of the "Rear track, front ski" setup. I would have given anything to have something like that on my Fourtrax at the time. Unfortunately, my dad didn't see it my way hahah.

Since it's cold out I haven't been able to take any new pics but I did find a couple.

Yes, tracks are Camoplast "2014" model. 2014 has a few nice upgrades, so if you are buying, ask for the 2014, there are still 2013 sets out there I think. 2014 has a couple extra grease zirks, different (softer?) tire compound, and three bearings in oil instead of two in grease, on the main shaft. May have a longer warrantee also, not sure about that.

I read Dirtwheels for years too! The commercial stuff is way too expensive, so I came up with this myself. I built the ski legs and adapted them to some camoplast molded skis, with homemade wear rods. and the rear has tires of course, cause the track sets are too much money (for a quad). These are Mud Machine tires, 10 inch wide, run really low on air, like 0.8 psi. and the rear track is set as narrow as possible using all the options available (hubs on outside of rims, rims offset inward, etc. Don't ask me to tell you why (I could guess), but after much experimenting I have found that narrow gives noticably better traction compared to wide.

It's because the tires are closer to centerline of vehicle. In turns the wider the rear end the more the wheels must slip since each needs to rotate at different speeds but cannot due to solid axle.

That quad with the skis is awesome. How do you like the KTM power? That looks like a very nice ride.

Yes, its the nicest all-around sport quad I have owned. I have been through: Suzuki Quad Racer (250 2-stroke), Honda 250R (250 2-stroke), 2003 and 2005 Polaris Predators (500 4-strokes), and this Polaris Outlaw KTM 525 (KTM 505 cc 4-stroke). Power is more than it needs, really. And powerband is very broad. Front to back balance is perfect, can wheelie when desired, but takes off and lands perfect. Steering is the lightest I've ever experienced, and tracks like on rails. Weight is a little higher than the KTM brand and the CanAm brand, but price is way lower. Too bad they now quit selling these Polaris sport quads. This one is a 2008 and I put brake pads in the rear last weekend, cause the OE ones were getting thin and the front brakes are unavailable when the skiis are on. Otherwise, nothing but oil changes and air filter cleanings in 5-6 years and about 120 hours of operating time.
