L3800 questions

My L3200 I got new in October has a jerky hitch. Dealer had never heard of such a thing pre-sale when I asked. It sucks, but is usable & not quite bad enough for me to make a big deal about it.

I checked it out when I picked it up, but not close enough & not with a load, which exadurates the problem.

Yeah all the sales guys are very ignorant about that little bug. It has only been around for about 10 years. I think Chilly807 researched and there have been 5 different models of the 3pt valve during the model runs of the L2800 L3400 and the newer L3200 and L3800. and it still shows up on the latest tractors.

The jerky hitch thing is kind of odd, but simple.

The basic L series has a hitch that rises in small increments (olny when the lever is moved VERY slow), not a smooth fluid motion. Some move in larger increments (rare) that cause more jerkyness, most move in smaller increments that cause less jerkyness.

Now this is only noticed when the lever is move upward VERY slowly! I rarely need to raise mine VERY slowly. Yes, I use a box blade a lot and never have any issues at all...

Since mine is not one of the more jerky ones, it's not ever noticeable and never a problem.

It is something to check and see if you can live with it when buying. If you can not live with it, pretty simple, buy a Grand L, or something else...

I like the simple basic L and do not like the fancy stuff at all. But that's just me...

I do not see this as a big problem for Kubota, but can see the more jerky ones not working for most people...

It's a pity that it gets so jerky going up -- it seems to be due to very abrupt cutoff of the valve (what I'd call a "bang-bang" control). Going down in steps, you can see the hitch slow towards the end of travel, and it's a lot smoother and seems perfectly damped (more of a "proportional" control). They got down working perfectly!

I like the idea of installing a remote hydraulic valve on the rear and a 3rd function on the loader control.

I have looked and searched around the site for this info and have seen references to WR long and have found their site and kits.
I like the idea of getting the kits from Kubota. Obviously they have to have some kind of rear remote kit in order to operate their backhoe.
Are all these part numbers for the rear and 3 function going to be found in the owners manual?
Does Kubota offer a OEM kit for the 3rd function?
I would like to have the install look like it is factory, so don't like the idea of a "one size fits all" from the aftermarket.

Anyone have these part numbers handy?

I have a FEL, 66" Gannon, and Rotary Mower, no issues using any implements.

Kubota offers up to 3 rear remotes on this tractor. I do not believe that they are integrated into the tractor as they are on the Grand Ls. Basically just clamped onto the ROPS if memory serves me correctly. About $800 for a single and $2000 for all 3. Relatively easy to have a better system, set up better for less money when it comes to the std L models.

There is no OEM 3rd function option for this tractor. So you are stuck with getting aftermarket. Again, nothing wrong with this, just take your time and get the right stuff and it can be as good or even better than if there were an OEM kit for it.

Well I think I made a deal on a new L3800 with a dealer in Kentucky. Nobody around me will come close to their price.

Anyhow I called another dealer about 40 min from where I live and asked them how close they could get to the price in Kentucky.

He was not even close. But he did warn me to not buy the tractor at the dealer down south unless I was willing to go back to that dealer every time I had a warranty problem. He told me that his dealer would not work on it and that none of the other dealers would look at any problems either. He said to plan to go back If you need any help, It will just sit at the back fence if you bring it to me.

Is this really how it works? I thought all Kubota dealers had to honor the warranty?

Hate to buy a new Kubota and get a job transfer to another state.

I have had warranty work done on My Chevy trucks at other Chevy dealers then where I had bought it.

Kubota is legally on the hook to support their warranty. They do that through their dealership network, just like Chevy or any other automotive dealer. Any Kubota dealership should be required to do warranty work. If it's not warranty work & just work, why on earth would any competent business turn away a paying customer. That salesman is just blowing smoke where the sun don't shine. Makes me doubt the quality of the salesman if not entire dealership.

You could call Kubota to confirm, maybe even rat out the shady dealer, but I'm 95% certain on the warranty work.

My local dealer can only get down to $21,000. The Kentucky dealer is at $19,500 for the exact same tractor.

L3800HST, 4wd, quick attach loader,R4's, & cruise.

I figured $1500 was worth a days drive, but not at the loss of a warranty.

The other dealer is just being a jerk trying to tell you if you dont buy it there from him, dont bother bringing it in for warranty work. Scare tactic at best.

18,545(3800DT) is what the tractor with r1s going for around here. As for the dealer saying would park it out back,he may do the warranty work but it will be after the folks who did buy from him,cant say much. That was rude that he would tell you wouldn't do anything for you if bought somewhere else,figure everyone would wont that work now days. But the guy could be great to someone who does buy for him,who knows. Know anyone who bought from them? How many trips would it take to eat up that 1500? or you may never have to take it there. Do you have to take it to dealer for first 50hr service,for warranty reasons? I should know that answer but don't,lol.Never needed my Kubota worked on I would stop in with trailer on the way to other and ask again if there is anyway could do the deal. You will either get some off or not but when you did take yours from the other dealer in you gave him every chance for your business.

No you don't have to take it to dealer, even for the first 50 hour work. I did mine at home. A large percentage of tractors never go back to the dealer.

I do all my service also,never even asked or had anything wrong. Reason I asked is my brother just bought a Mahindra and they require the 50hr service at dealer.

I've had 5 tractors in 30 years and have never taken one if for any work. Never needed warranty work and do all my own service & repairs. I do like to support local business, but not A-holes though.

I know the salesman bought all my hay equipment from him and don't think he would BS my brother but he may. He got the 8560,said they need to adjust valves or something didn't really listen when my brother was talking,cause I do my own

Yes the 50 hr service does have to be completed and documented for warranty reasons. No it does not have to be done by a dealer. I believe that it is actually against the law to require that a dealer do the work other than if it is done at no charge to the customer.

Enough of this, lets get back to the L3800.
