Hey y'all, this is January. It's the month that all Texans who own property get to support their schools and county employees by paying property taxes. Ain't we lucky?;) :D

If you have waited until January to pay your 2013 ad valorem taxes haven't you missed the opportunity to deduct them from your 2013 taxable income?

Posting all the snake pictures was a failed project. The population in Austin (closest city) is the fastest growing in the US.

Yes, but I'm of the opinion that taxes delayed to the last month (without penalty) is a tiny bit better than paying and deducting them. Truth is, I haven't paid a penny of income taxes in several years and save the deduction to the next year in case I need to pull money from my IRA for some large project and owe some taxes. It's all probably 50-50, tit-for-tat, same-same.:confused3: Of course, for 2013, I have the deductions from what I paid last January. I've never put a pencil to it because it's surely not worth the time to do the calculation.

well shoot, Just received a call from my mother. Seems she failed the heart stress test (had been getting winded and tired lately and they focused on blood work) So her Doc called in a favor at the hospital in Decatur and she is going in this morning at 10:30am for what they think will end in emergency coronary angioplasty (sp) (haven't had time to "look it up" worked last night so dragging pretty bad.) Kind of hard to wake up to that kind of call, but glad it has been caught. They wont know 100% what they will find until they get her "on the table". She is 73 and mostly alone since my step dad passed away 2 years ago.

This really sucs, we where happy for her to be leaving today for 2 months to hang out with her cousin and sister in Arizona and California, but I am thankful it is being dealt with now, before it could be worse.

Well quick shower ,wet hair and headed to the hospital.

Sorry about your Mom's emergency, but happy that it is not the result of a heart attack. Hoping for a successful procedure and quick recovery.
