Only knowing what I am reading in this thread..... I'm now with your friend. I don't think you should buy a tractor either. Use what you have access to until you are financially stable enough to afford a new tractor. Right now I think it is going to take every penny you can scrounge to pay the cost of property ownership. Get your property bought and get financially stable with the additional costs that are going to come with that. Then look at expanding your financial responsibilities with the addition of a tractor. By then you may realize you need other things a lot more.
It's common to see tractors for sale with less than 100 hours on them. Reading between the lines you can see the owner is overextended and needs out from under the payment. If you get yourself in that position you will also have your property financially upside down and risk losing both.
