The MF 25 itself! Its in great shape! Hard to find parts for tractor but the Perkin engine I can find parts for! Plan to repair and use it. 8 speeds forward and 2 reverse.

That sure is a nice looking MF25. Very nice sheet metal and paint.

Yes and my dad doesn't want it because he says its too tough to manage being a diesel ....... but then he loves the fuel economy of it and complains about the cockshut using 2 gallons per hour !?!? He needed me just to change the fuel filter on the MF 25 lol. And asked me where to buy diesel and everything. He Is soon to be 64

I've owned a Kubota BX2200 and now own a JD 2720. I loved the K and it was a great tractor. But FWIW, my JD just started easier at 0 last week than my K would at 20.

I am finding that a fully charged battery (I keep mine on a tender full time in the winter now) does wonders for quick starts in the cold. Just wondering if you have an apples to apples... I mean battery to battery fair comparison?

Well, I never had a charger on my Kubota battery and it lasted 10 years with no issue. I haven't had a charger on my JD either, and it sat for probably 2 months between starts before the 0 degree start. So, yes, I would say apples to apples of no charger/tender.

Fair enough! I can only report that my battery when fully topped off with a tender, starts my little BX quicker than without. Maybe there is more drain on a sitting Kubota vs. Deere?

If I had to guess, I would say the glow plugs are slightly better on the slightly larger JD. But, you never know. I was just adding my $0.02.

See that's what we are talking about here. Your Dad can afford to give you a tractor. He got in that position by wise money management. I understand his technological knowledge might be lacking in your eyes. But his "life" wisdom excels for such a young man as himself.
