Alcohol.....80,000 will die

my father drank a bit too much (i guess)... and died from pancreatic problems from drinking over the years at 73. my little brother died at 46 from pancreatic problems in the exact same way - he drank mostly every day. i was a causal wine guy but 100% gave it all up a year ago and have not missed it.
my thinking is that some people might be more tolerant to alcohol than others...given my family history im not going to test it
. btw, my father did not drink more than the average guy. to each his own.

You are correct...some ethnic groups (primarily those of the Mongoloid race, i.e. Asians) have a very low tolerance due to a genetic mutation.

To be accurate, my relatives of my fathers side.
My moms side was somewhat smaller and I don't know if any of them fought in the Pacific arena.

Don't know if it's heredity or what, as far as I know none of us off spring has had any problems......but we're all getting up there now sooo........
Don't want to throw around accusations but almost to the man or women on my fathers side had problems whether inlaws or immediate family. And they all served in the Pacific theater of operations.

Life is a risk. Lot at your situation and options, and chose your route. What works for one, does not work for the other. Alcohol is an option, no one forces it. Drink if you enjoy, don't if you don't. Just don't go try legislating choices.

Still lots of prohibition going on; there are a lot of dry communities in Alaska, due to heavy crime and alcoholism. I believe some other states, including Texas, still have county option. Oklahoma was legislated dry up until 1959 when they first opened the liquor stores. Although prohibition was tried and repealed as a federal issue, the repeal also acknowledged that the states had leeway to regulate alcohol pretty much as they see fit. Now if they would just do the some for a lot of other things...

Yep, alcohol is gonna kill you, or smoking is gonna kill you, or the wrong diet is gonna kill you, or an accident is gonna kill you, or a criminal is gonna kill you, or maybe a tornado . . . but none of us are gonna live forever. And some of us have already lived a lot longer than we ever expected to, so now we just try to enjoy the time that's left.

The naysayers are after tobacco now and telling how many will die. But the same group is telling about the benefits of smoking the weed. left handed.
Always look at who pays for the study.

Yup, and the agenda behind it..There always is one...Wonder if they'll agitate to allow rope smoking in bars/public? If it's legal, why not (he said sarcastically).

Watch them agitate to be allowed to smoke a mary jane on airplanes since it will sooth stress...It's legal, right?

Hate to be a kill joy but.....
it's like any other stimulate/drug it can be taken in any number of ways. It doesn't need to be smoked.

Somehow the thought of hashish enemas fills me more with dread than with anticipation.
