I think the difficulty in arriving at the reason for the pallets, is that everyone who has posted on this thread has contracted PALLETMANIA!!!! Oh crap!!! Now I have palletmania, too!!!! Steve, what are the symptoms of palletmania? And what is the cure? Hopefully, a man of science like yourself can save us all!!!

Sir, you speak of the interest in solving the pallet formation puzzle as if it was some sort of malady. Do you deny that the quest for knowledge is a noble endeavor?

I do admit that many "crack-pot" theories have been advanced by amateur scientists on TBN. However, I do not believe in censorship.

In order to minimize the time that I must take from my personal endeavors to advance science, I wait for a "theory" to attract a following. For example, the "hayist," "seedist," markist," and "militarist" theories were accepted by members of the public. Once a faction develops, I evaluate the scientific merits of the theory. Sadly, the record indicates an alarming amount of credulity amongst the public.

The invisible to the naked eye portion of the X contains special censors that are tapped into the "nuts" on TBN .. Every post is being read and re read .. Aliens are searching for a human scientist to retain for the better development of the future breeding of "squirrels" so there will be bigger and better nuts ..

Palletmania is an "obsession malady" that is particular to people who own tractors/skips. It can be resisted and overcome with mental fortitude. I myself have been stricken with this. I have several pallets, with mounted castors, to store my implements on. I built a hay ring out of pallets. I even have a few pallets waiting 'in the wings' for future, unforeseen, use.

Even though, whilst attending various institutions where 'used pallets' may be available, I still cast my eye over this bounty... I have schooled myself to resist the temptation of asking, "Ah, Mate? Are you using those pallets? Can I have'em?"

Indeed, this proposes a new line of inquiry. Do the pallet formations constitute a symptom of a sufferer of extreme Palletmania?

Hmmmm, so palletmania is an obsession malady. So, instead of OCD, someone could have OPD. That makes sense. And it could be overcome if you have the mental fortitude to stop yourself from counting pallets.

I had hoped that we would avoid repeating the contentious debate that nearly split the Pallet Science Society some 30 years ago. At that time, a group that studies skids --- essentially a pallet without a bottom deck -- demanded that the Society be renamed the Pallet and Skid Science Society. Cooler heads prevailed, and a compromise was reached. In recognition of the fact that a skid is a special type of pallet, the Society's logo was changed to include both a regular pallet and a bottomless pallet (i.e., a skid).

Section 14.3 (b) of the Society's bylaws now state: "All skids are pallets, but not all pallets are skids."

Whether the pallet formations in NJ are an incipient stage of pallet hoarding is unknown. We need to investigate the evolution of the pallet hoard in Oklahoma.

The "honeycomb hive" is not visible from the road so satellite images is all we have to work with. Perhaps this bird's eye view will help in identification: Bing Maps - Driving Directions, Traffic and Road Conditions

The dispersed field pallets are arranged vertically in a square, leaving the top open. Perhaps this is a more advanced method that may involve the use of some type of alien fasteners, versus gravity holding them together in the inverted V manner.

Granted, the "Oklahoma Phenomenon" needs to be investigated... but by whom? No TBN 'Man of the Land' could possibly resist the siren's call of so many pallets in one place! The pallet maze alone would lure all and sundry to their doom.
