I have this Hitachi 7" G18SS and well.... Lance say it better that I am Hitachi 7" Angle Grinder Review (Model G18SS) - YouTube

I was cutting a few angle the other day and a friend of mine brought his 4 1/2" with some cut off wheels. I don't feel like putting a 7" cut off on mine so. What about those metal cutting steel disks like this one Irwin Industrial Tools 4935560 7-1/4-Inch 68-Tooth Metal Cutting Circular Saw Blade for Thin Steel - Amazon.com

some come with ether a 7/8 or a 20mm arbor but amazon sells adapters to make a 5/8 to ether of those

Can you cut with one of those on an angle grinder?

I would buy a 4.5" grinder and use the 4.5 cut off wheels...JMO...

Just my $.02, I have the heavy duty dewalt 7 and 9" grinder. I would not want to have a cutting wheel on that, with the power it has you have to be right on top of what is going on all the time. It would be bad to slip and have it grab your shirt or coveralls but I cannot imagine the damage a cutting blade could do on that grinder it you slipped and it ran into your leg or abdomen.

I have an old (28 yr) black + decker 7 inch industrial angle grinder. It's powerful- squeeze the trigger and the torque grabs your hand if you are not ready for it. I do everything with it - grind, cut off, etc. Definitely 2 hand operation.

Sounds like a "Best" Craftsman grind I used to have. I needed a seven inch grinder and fast so I grabbed Sears best, three horsepower or some such. Darn thing would almost twist out of your hands when you squeezed the trigger. Then at the Bosch store they had a $300.00 plus seven inch grinder on sale for half price and I bought it.

The Bosch had almost no torque twist but you couldn't stop the blade no matter how hard you stuffed it into a piece of steel. The Craftsman on the other hand had huge torque twist but you could stop the blade by stuffing it into a piece of steel. I have two of those Bosch now, also a Milwaukee. When I'm using different wheels for different projects I will change grinders instead of wheels, lazy like that.

You have to be careful with power tools. But I carry pipeliner cut off wheels for the big grinders because sometimes nothing works better. A case in point is when you want to flush cut a post or upright in concrete and a torch would be difficult to get into the location.

I have 4.5", 7", 9" angle grinders and 3" cut off straight end grinders + a cutting torch. Each has its place for cutting & grinding. Using the right tool lessens the possibility of getting hurt with it.
