mine was zilog.. which made z80
i remember have an old nec and a tandy laptop. tandy laptop have an 8088 in it and i upgraded it to a v20 the nec ironically had an 8086 in it which i upgraded to a v30
I had an olt tandy 1000 too.. the xt.. and grabed an upgrade daughter card that gave it a 286 processor on an 8 bit card using one of the cardslots. we joked and called it a 286 xt ( vs at )
reminds me of all the various overdrive processors and such.
I had a 286-12.5 ( panasonic? emerson? - some consumer electronics co ) , and I got a 486-25 adapter card for it. same deal as the tandy.. but at least with a 16b bus.
remember the slc / dlc processors. basically a 386 proc with a 486 reduced instruction set.
then you had the early on board multi function chipsets that had onbord video and audo and proc. nothing socketed. all surface mount.
cheap way to get a pc. board cost 1/3 of any other 486 md and proc.. even a sx33.. AND had video.. and you couple populate it with 8 megs ram.
wow.. nostalgia.
remmember before simms.. you had sipps with those horrible legs.. I preferred drams to sipps.
remember dip 16 300ns memory. ACK! fast page mode even. ;0
