Any interest in a mount to put a truck plow on your GC?

If you ever do another one, consider a frame that pushes from the back of the tractor and only is hung on and guided by the front.
Front mounting tends to lift the front end, while proper mounting at the back will tend to pull the front end down so the front tires pull and steer better.

This was the advice a CASEIH mechanic had given to me when I was installing the same plow as you have on my Farmall 404,
He said the new big tractors push front mounted equipment from the back of the tractor.
Makes a lot of sense.
FWIW
That would be the 'cat's meow' if it was possible. But with the low ground clearance on the GC series, coupled with a tilting front axle, it just isn't feasible.

Well here is an update to the project. The mount still needs to be painted and the hydraulic lines need to be organized better but overall I am happy it. The blade I picked up still needs some work which I will do over the summer. It was in worse shape than I thought but the frame is still solid. It was a 7'6" blade and I cut it down to 6'. I also shortened up the A-frame so the plow doesn't stick out so far and made the cylinder directly mount to the A-frame so I can have down pressure. I only got to test it out once this year in about 3" of snow, maybe next year we'll get a winter.

Constructive comments welcome....

I know I started this thread last year but I finally got the frame powder coated so I wanted to show it off. Plus it has been getting some good use this year....finally! :cool2:

Looks cool but I'd worry that our GC frames are not beefy enough to take any big hits.

Oh, I don't know… looks like he's got the stress pretty well spread around. Those FEL mounts are pretty rugged, and the plow sub-frame is bolted right to the frame….

Looks great! What did you have to do- take the frame to a specialty shop to get it powder-coated? irvingj

Yep, I took it to a local powder coater that I've used several times now. They do a nice job at a very reasonable price.

I would be interested in seeing a video of it moving snow. I have a blade set up available to me and just bought a GC, have a 300' driveway and looking for a way to move some snow next year. Just moved to the new house and where I am in Michigan we got over 100" of snow this year and I'm sure a few more storms coming.

Good job, hope you can post up a video.

You should have asked a month ago when I was plowing the drive almost every day. I heard that we may get another big snow shortly so if we do I'll try to get a video.

The plow set up worked good for me this year and I have at least 300' of drive that I plow and with all the extra wide parking areas included I could clear the drive in about 30min. The down side of a plow set up is when you get repeated snows with no thawing in between and things start getting piled up along side the drive. You end up with no place for the snow to go and to and its like plowing in a tube. You may want think about a blower set up. If this weather is going to become the norm I may look into a 3pt blower so I can keep my FEL on for moving piles if needed.

The only issue I have on the 3 point blower ( which is my original thought) is constantly having to be turned around. But being able to use the FEL if needed offsets it.

I am also contemplating a quad with a plow or putting a plow on my truck and taking on some accounts to offset that cost.
