The one thing I noticed is the throttle lever on the DK50SE HST was really, really tight - and the battery was dead. They jumped it, and ran for 10ish minutes to warm up. I drove it around for 10 minutes then when I shut it off it wouldn't crank. Not a very good first impression for a new tractor right there - either it wasn't charging or the factory battery was no good.

Seems all the throttles are like that, don't understand why.

The throttles are tight.
You may want to find out when that tractor was manufactured....Might be new but old.....or just a bad battery
My old 63 ford f600 sat for a year and a half, never on any kind of charger, and it started on its own.

FYI I have a DK45 HST Cab, I am happy with it.
The 40/45/50 are all the same tractor except the motor.

I bought the DK 50 over the 45 or 40, they are all the same tractor and loader with different engine, the 35 is smaller and has a smaller loader. I am glad I upsized to the 50 as originally I was looking in the 35 to 40 hp ballpark. At the time he had a 50 on the lot that was only about 500 more than the 45 which he didn't have and would order in at the newer higher pricing at the time so I took the 50 and ran, no issues as far as starting, the throttle is sort of stiff, my battery is still holding up, sounds like your issue was likely dead battery, as suggested find out when that tractor was actually built, it may have already sat a couple winters with minimal use, bad for a battery and may be good for negotiations. I don't have the cab though.

$29.5 for the DK50 w/cab sounds like a very fair deal. I have rolled 4x4 bales with my DK40HST with no problems and can pull a 5.5' drum cutter at 11 mph(high gear) if I am on a smooth pasture. Almost 1K hours here and the only problem was a head gasket which was covered under warranty at 600ish hours.....it has been a great tractor and the loader is a beast.

Thanks everyone! Great info here. Looks like I need to do a little more research to understand the differences with Tier 3&4 stuff.

Actually Tier 4 interim, and Tier 4 Final.. the new NX machines are Tier 4 Final. The previous models were Tier 4 Interim. Just google it.

As long as it doesn't use exhaust fluid, I don't think it matters to me either way. I remember when it was a joke to ask people if they'd checked their muffler fluid...
