Heated tailgate?

Seriously, though, what has GM been 'first' with in trucks lately? I would like to have the Ram Box feature on my next truck as well.

Gm had something almost identical to the "ram box" on the avalanche back to at least '06, probably sooner. It wasn't advertised much, or at least not that I can remember because I just recently found out. Now I understand an avalanche is not a pickup really, but just wanted to point out that it wasn't Ram's brilliant idea. (And I like Ram) Actually Ford had a storage box in the bed (though lower) back in the 70's.

We don't see many trucks from the 70's still on the road here in the rust belt, but I did see one of those Ford's with the bed box, just 3 days ago. First one I've seen in probably a decade. Those older trucks can make me smile just looking at them. :)

Hmmm, I didn't realize the Avalanche had a box in the rails. I thought they had one in the bed like the Ridgeline. The Titan also has that storage box lower in the bed sides like the old Fords did. I would take one of those as well...just some place to store hitch receivers, tow straps, that kind of stuff where there are easy to get to, but not in the cab of the truck. I love the late 70's model Ford trucks!

The engine is nice and all....

But has Dodge figured out how to build a pickup that wont have the rear wheel arches blistered and rotting out after a few years? Seems almost every Dodge pickup I see that is over 4 or 5 years old is showing blisters over the rear wheels.. Whats up with that???

Gimme something with a 300 straight 6 and a 4 speed with a nice granny 1st gear like my old F250! And 2 sticks for 4wd. I say that as someone who has just gotten a gremlin in his newer pushbutton 4wd system! And we have a snowstorm heading our way! The old systems werent "fancy"... the engines werent "powerful".. the trucks werent "fast".. but they definitely were TOUGH!

ChryDodRam has come a long way in quality over the last 3-4 years.

That's good to hear, they were way behind in the rustproofing department. Perhaps they can keep up with Ford and Chevy now...

The CO2 thing is why you almost never (at least I never have) hear of someone doing themselves in with a diesel running in the garage...Would think the eye burning and smell would chase you out regardless of ones intentions. I know my diesel stunk up my garage fast, and I ad no alternative intentions...I opened the door and got out...Gas engines, different story.
Modern diesels don't smell at all, you can get on your knees and stick your nose in the tail pipe on my BMW 335d and you can't smell anything, just moist air. Your old experiences are hard to overcome and dispel but you could not be anymore wrong about modern high pressure diesels. HS
